Q3 in the Eurozone - Rising demand for loans, increased deposit volumes❗ Interest rates, lending, and deposits are all linked – our Bank Analytics team took a closer look. 🔎 The European Central Bank’s rate cuts and a more favorable retail environment pushed lending demand higher, especially for mortgages. However, corporate loan demand, while recovering, remains subdued in many regions. 💡 Growing deposit volumes, mainly driven by term deposits, reflect the need to fund expanding loan books. Banks with greater reliance on overnight deposits may face challenges in sustaining growth, as recent deposit outflows might foreshadow. 🏧 👉 How do we know this: ▶️ In the Eurozone, household loans increased slightly compared to the previous quarter, corporate loans, however, still decreased. ▶️ While loan growth was largely driven by mortgages, with banks recording a 39 % plus in net demand, demand for corporate loans only increased by 4 %. Consumer credit demand saw an increase of 13 %. ▶️ Deposit volume in the Eurozone overall increased slightly, with values varying between countries. Italy, for instance, recorded a 7 % drop in corporate deposits, Germany saw an increase of more than 4 %. ▶️ Around half of the largest European banks recorded net deposit outflows in Q3, with the highest at around 4 %, while the largest net inflow amounted to more than 1.5 %.

December marks the final round of monetary policy meetings for this year, with notable divergences in expectations for the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and the Federal Reserve. 🚨 👉 Our Bank Analytics team had a closer look: ▶️ The ECB is widely expected to implement a rate cut, with markets fully pricing in a 25 basis point decrease but leaving a little bit of room for a potential 50 basis point adjustment. 💡 ▶️ The Fed is also anticipated to lower rates, though market confidence is lower, with a 75 % likelihood priced in. The BoE, however, is not expected to cut in December. ⏱️ ▶️ Market rates are reflecting these expectations. In the euro area, struggling economic growth, weak consumer sentiment and low expectations towards long-term inflation rates have driven treasury yields and swap rates lower. Meanwhile, UK and US rates have kept relatively stable at elevated levels, reflecting the ongoing impact of the election and the UK budget respectively. ▶️ Top term deposits rates stayed relatively stable in November in Germany with only one year top rates decreasing significantly. This stability suggests that competitive pressures in the deposit market are keeping rates at high levels. ⚖️

Digital Wealth Management wins performance comparisons with cumulative return of +75 % over 6 years. 🚀 Our goal is to be a One-Stop-Shop for savings and investments. That’s why German Raisin customers have the option to add investment products to their portfolio of savings products. We offer ETF-based pension plans and our core product Digital Wealth Management. It follows a science-based approach and is broadly diversified with up to 8,000 stocks despite being very low-cost. 🌏 Two long term performance comparisons have confirmed that our approach is the right way to go. Our Digital Wealth Management not only won the real money test of Brokervergleich, but also carried the 100 % equity category in Biallo’s comparison with a cumulative return of 75 % over six years. 📈 We’re proud of what the team has built! 🙏 Onwards and upwards! 🚀

A happy heart is better than a full purse! You might not know this proverb, but at least for one Raisineer, it is part of what defines him. Our strength lies in the different stories, backgrounds and unique perspectives of each and every one. 🌍 That is why we want to give you a glimpse of who we are – with our #Younique interviews. Meet Smijo Puthur Joju, originally from Kerala province in southern India, he is Tech Lead for Deposit Accounting & Taxation. We talked to him about his roots and his story. What contributes most to your happiness? ☀️ My parents and siblings are very important to me. Helping others and giving back to the community also brings me a lot of joy. Caring for others is deeply rooted in my religion, and I’ve realized how important this ethos is for me, because I personally benefited from the kindness of others. Growing up, there were times when we experienced economic hardship, and I will never forget those who helped us out. Through this experience, I learned not to take anything for granted and am more than happy to help others in need. Which proverb would you like to share with us? 🌏 The Malayalam proverb I would like to share is “നിറഞ്ഞ സഞ്ചിയെക്കാൾ സന്തോഷമുള്ള ഹൃദയമാണ് നtല്ലത്“”. The proverb translates into “a happy heart is better than a full purse”. It resonates with me deeply, because it emphasizes that one should value happiness over materialism and wealth, which is deeply rooted in my own upbringing. Do you have any tips to find joy in everyday moments? 🤗 One of my personal tips to finding joy in everyday life is keeping physically active – it gives me a positive and grateful mindset. Praying and religion are also important anchors in my life; often I include loved ones and friends in my prayers. In addition to being active, I am also an avid reader, in particular of psychology books – one that I’d recommend is Atomic habits by James Clear. Thank you, Smijo! __ Stay tuned to get to know more Raisineers.
