A significant change for European companies: Sustainability reports are going to be just as central to corporate reporting as e. g. financial reports. The directive aims to ensure that companies provide reliable and thus comparable sustainability data, uniform standards create transparency and are intended to redirect investments toward sustainable technologies and businesses - but at the same time, they pose major challenges for many medium-sized companies. In this interview, we explore the key requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the challenges in its implementation, and the strategic opportunities that may arise for companies in the future, together with our experts for corporate sustainability consulting, Dr. Jens Ramsbrock, Dr. Kesheng Shu and Alexander Roas. Here's the full interview: https://lnkd.in/dpbETpAF. #ARRK #ARRKEngineering #Sustainability #SustainabilityConsulting #CSRD #technology #ESG

The growing focus on climate change, renewable energy, and the energy transition is driving a rising demand for electric vehicles (EVs), both now and in the future. Currently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSMs) are widely used in EVs due to their efficiency and performance. However, their reliance on rare earth materials, supplied by only a few sources, makes it nearly impossible to diversify the supply chain and leads to a direct cost dependency. Externally Excited Synchronous Machines (EESMs) present a promising alternative for many vehicle types, offering the potential to reduce dependency on rare earth materials. Despite this advantage, EESMs face a key drawback: lower torque at low speeds compared to PMSMs. Maximilian Zinner, Leading Expert Powertrain at ARRK Engineering, is going to speak about the potential of high performance rotor cooling techniques in externally excited motors. See you at CTI Symposium, 2-4 December 2024! #climatechange #arrkengineering #powertrain

Here are the highlights from our functional safety ML-ADAS Team (Václav Diviš, Bastian Spatz), TRust Your GENerator (TRYGEN): Enhancing Out-of-Model Scope Detection In this research, we tackled a crucial challenge: detecting Out-of-Model Scope (OMS) inputs to enhance the robustness and reliability of machine learning systems, particularly for safety-critical applications like autonomous driving and medical diagnostics. Key contributions of TRYGEN include: 1. A novel OMS detection pipeline: Integrating three sources—the original input, its latent feature representation, and a synthesized version generated from its latent features. 2. Robust defense against distributional shifts and adversarial attacks: Demonstrating the power of combining original and synthetic data for enhanced system safety. 3. Plug-and-train flexibility: Our method can integrate any encoder into the pipeline seamlessly. 4. Thorough evaluation: Sensitivity analysis to identify the most effective input combinations for OMS detection. TRYGEN achieved state-of-the-art results in computer vision, showcasing its potential to redefine how OMS detection can be approached, making systems more resilient to unknown and potentially hazardous inputs. Curious to learn more about how this method improves the safety and adaptability of ML systems? Check out our detailed findings and the comprehensive methodology that powers TRYGEN. https://lnkd.in/d-MygCv4 Thank you for the highly professional contribution: Bastian Spatz and Marek Hruz. We did this work in cooperation with University of West Bohemia, Pilsen.
