For North America, the all-new Volvo VNL and its autonomous counterpart broke new ground in safety and efficiency. Meanwhile, Volvo Construction Equipment unveiled the biggest product renewal in the company’s history with 80 new and updated machines. From excavators to electric trucks, 2024 has been a testament to our drive to provide cutting-edge solutions for diverse industries while staying committed to sustainability. 2024 was transformative for Volvo Group. From material development to partnerships, our journey toward a more sustainable future took huge strides. We were the first to introduce and expand our use of low-CO2-emission steel in our trucks. This has a direct impact in decarbonizing heavy transport – even before the truck hits the road. We have signed a partnership agreement with BASF that will enable even more innovations in low-carbon materials, such as recycled plastics. The launch of Cespira, our joint venture for HPDI fuel system technology, underscores the potential of renewable fuels and hydrogen to transform commercial transportation. Sustainability is also about extending the life of what we already have. In 2024, we celebrated the first refurbished battery from our Skövde plant, providing customers with cost-effective, lower-emission alternatives and reaffirming our commitment to resource efficiency. We have also created a 50/50 joint venture with Daimler to develop a software-defined vehicle platform that will amplify digital transformation. Milence, our joint venture with Daimler and Traton Group, is building Europe’s largest public charging network for heavy-duty trucks. With charging hubs in 10 key markets long-distance electric transport is becoming faster and more efficient. The road to net-zero emissions by 2040 remains ambitious, but this year proved that collaboration, innovation, and bold action are the keys to moving forward. Together, we are creating solutions that benefit not only our customers but also the planet.

Our Seasonal Gift 2024, given on behalf of all employees to projects worldwide, focuses on youth development—particularly initiatives that address the unique pressures young people face online. While social media, online learning, and digital interaction offer valuable opportunities, they can also create stress and disrupt mental well-being. Young people benefit from learning how to balance online engagement with offline activities, develop critical thinking skills, and build resilience against challenges such as cyberbullying and social isolation. This year’s Seasonal Gift aims to empower youth not only to navigate digital challenges but also to thrive in their personal, educational, and social lives. As we look back on the year, we’re proud to say that 2024 brought significant advancements in technology aimed at protecting not just drivers and passengers, but also the most vulnerable road users – pedestrians and cyclists. This year saw the global launch of our third-generation active safety systems from Volvo Buses, setting a new standard that exceeds regulatory requirements in Europe and beyond. These innovations include comprehensive collision avoidance technologies and intelligent systems to help drivers maintain focus and control in complex situations. Volvo Trucks introduced enhanced safety features like Active Side Collision Avoidance Support and an improved emergency braking system, continuing to build on decades of progress. Our vision of zero accidents drives these innovations, ensuring we’re not only meeting but surpassing global safety expectations. And recently – top scores for the Volvo FM, Volvo FH Aero and Renault Trucks T in the prestigious safety award Trucks Euro NCAP. Safety is more than technology – it’s a responsibility. As we close the year, we’re proud to see our advancements making roads safer for everyone and reaffirming Volvo Group’s legacy of putting people first.
