This week, we successfully launched an intensive Baseline training program for teachers who will begin teaching Form One students this January 2025. The training began at Kinyerezi and will be continued across the remaining zones of Ukonga and Ilala of Ilala Municipality. By the end of next week, we will expand to secondary schools in Kinondoni Municipality, ensuring comprehensive coverage. This program equips teachers with the skills to effectively deliver the Baseline Course, facilitating a smooth transition for students from primary to secondary education. Teachers explored creative, competence-based methodologies and innovative teaching and learning techniques designed to: • Stimulate active engagement and critical thinking. • Foster inclusivity and adaptability in diverse classrooms. My experience at COP 29! 🌍 During the side event at the IGAD Pavilion, where I was honored to be a guest, we explored East Africa's innovations around climate action. I had the privilege of sharing insights on our clean energy-saving jikos program, which empowers local women by involving them in designing, making, and installing these eco-friendly jikos. Yesterday, Nivishe Foundation , Amisa Rashid , YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa made history by launching the first ever mental health comic book series in Africa. where are the ullulations?! 👏🏼 The comic book simplifies the complexities and jargon of mental health, making it accessible, fun and comprehensive —even for children. The title of the first series, 'Understanding Emotions', sets the tone for relatable and impactful conversations about mental health, and the best thing about it is you can access an online copy for you and your children! follow Nivishe Foundation for guidance on that. What stood out for me was the collaborative effort the organization put into making this comic a success. Another highlight was seeing how art and creativity—through painting, puppeteering, and storytelling—can be powerful tools to promote mental health at the grassroots level, sparking conversations within families and communities and greatly breaking Stigma.
