Mobilizing private investment for climate adaptation in preparation for COP 29 Ahead of #COP29, GIZ Kenya hosted the Private Adaptation Investment Bootcamp to catalyse #climateadaptation investments across Africa as part of the 2024 African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA) Africa Conference. We hosted a #dealroom that allowed businesses and investors to interact, exchanging on experiences and paving the way for scalable private investments for #climateaction 🌍🌱 At the AVPA, GIZ Kenya was represented by the NDC Assist II and We4finance projects in partnership with GreenTec Capital Partners. Together they engaged with #PrivABoo SMEs, impact investors, and key players within the climate adaptation ecosystem. The pitch and networking session facilitated dialogue, networking, and hands-on technical assistance. This included SME partners from Kenya, Nigeria and Rwanda, such as Irri-Hub KE , Adili Solar Hubs, Moto Hope Capital, Pepea Capital , Aerobic Agroforestry, Kitovu Technology Company, Ecotutu, Advanced Metering Solutions East Africa, 1HACTARE1FAMILY, BUIM Rwanda, and TRUK RWANDA. The #PrivABoo Enterprises Investor trip included a visit to Moto Hope Capital, an impact-driven social enterprise focused on providing financing and capacity building to underserved markets. The visit offered investors a firsthand look at Moto Hope's operations, giving them insight into its business model and investment potential. Another stop on the trip was a visit to IrriHub’s customer, a farmer based in Gachie, Kiambu County. IrriHub is a social enterprise dedicated to building resilient farming communities by implementing intelligent irrigation systems. During the visit, investors interacted with a farmer who has benefited from the system, receiving direct feedback on how the product has positively impacted their yield and income. #PrivABoo #WE4F #2024AVPAConference #ClimateAdaptation #GIZAgricultureKE Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

Three out of five Moto Hope Capital loan beneficiaries are women. We take great pride in the growth and scaling that each of the women-owned MSMEs we have reached through financing and capacity building continues to attain. In our Quarter 4 CEO Visit to Clients, friends of Moto Hope Capital, Jill and Brandon Andersen from the USA, and MHC’s Molo Team accompanied our CEO Mr. Vincent Njuguna Kiarie to chat with some of these women entrepreneurs. As is the highlight of such visits, we were thrilled to note the growth that each of the four businesses visited has realized since accessing their first loans, through repeat financing and capacity building, to date. From a little shop squeezed at the end of a building corridor to a full-fledged spare parts store, Martha’s business has realized more growth than she anticipated and she is all too happy about the accessible and affordable financing from MHC. Lily’s salon is not just for herself. She has trained 28 youth, since her first financing with MHC. She has not only created employment for three other young women who work alongside her but is also empowering more young people to set out on their ventures once they have successfully learned the skills and trade. Loice on the other hand is a brand of her own. Growth capital from MHC has seen her stay above competition in knitting sweaters for schoolchildren, and institutions within and outside Molo. Grace’s grocery stall stands out from the rest in Molo market, for despite customers flocking for her groceries she never runs out. MHC’s affordable working capital ensures that she meets all the demands of her customers. These hardworking women entrepreneurs seen in this Quarter’s CEO visit are just but a representation of what Moto Hope Capital’s financial inclusion means for businesses, households, and whole communities. They are stories of success, hope, resilience, and growth! #PrivABoo, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, GIZ Kenya.

In the wake of the #2024AVPAConference, as a member of the 2nd #PrivABoo SME Core Group, Moto Hope Capital was a key stop for the Investors’ Field Visits, organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with GreenTec Capital Partners and Scio Network. At the investors’ visit on 6th November at our Nairobi offices, we had the extraordinary opportunity to connect with local and international investors and other innovators as we presented our works and showcased our business model’s focus on climate adaptation and Kenya’s adaptation-relevant business ecosystem. We look forward to partnerships and climate-focused investments that will scale our works in the provision of financing and capacity building to underserved businesses, smallholder farmers, and climate-vulnerable communities, to build more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient communities in Kenya. #climateadaptation #impactinvesting GreenTec Capital Africa Foundation, Thomas Festerling, Andrew Gwadiva, #Privaboo, Josué Arguedas, Lisa S.,Grace Nwigwe, Mehdi Mustafa,Sarah Makena...

We had remarkable opportunities and gainfully engaged with likeminded change makers, innovators, and players in the #climateadaptation and #impactinvesting space at the recently concluded #2024AVPAConference in Nairobi, Kenya from 4th - 6th November 2024. Represented by our Co-Founder and CEO, Mr. Vincent Njuguna Kiarie, we received insights into Moto Hope Capital's climate adaptation goals and practices from industry leaders in climate adaptation and impact investing. Our highlight was the evening of November 5th at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH PrivABoo Pitch Event and Networking side event, which brought Moto Hope Capital, among SMEs in the 2nd PrivABoo Cohort, other SMEs, impact investors, and climate adaptation pioneers together, for a dynamic session with Mr. Thomas Festerling, CEO of GreenTec Capital Africa Foundation. We are thrilled to explore all the potential partnerships fostered at the event in the coming days to realize greater social, environmental, and, economic impact even as we seek to scale sustainable SMEs. We are thrilled to announce the launch of Moto Hope Capital’s Smartphone Financing, which is in line with our digital inclusion initiative. Digital poverty is a great barrier to financial inclusion as it prevents people from accessing and engaging with modern financial services. Hence, as we move towards digitizing all our operations, our goal is to ensure that none of the unbanked and financially excluded that we target are left behind. From as low as Ksh. 70 per day, we are offering affordable and flexible financing solutions for a select range of smartphones to our clients. This will see to it that they can access our financial as well as non-financial support services. We look forward to driving digital inclusion, especially in the most remote communities that we serve. #smartphonefinancing #digitalinclusion #enddigitalpoverty #financialinclusion

We were delighted to attend the Inaugural Annual SME Conference, Awards, and Exhibition 2024, hosted by Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) on the 24th of August. Represented by our Credit Manager Mr. Peter Njoroge, and our Operations Manager Mr. Denis Thuita, we optimally utilized the event to foster meaningful connections and received and shared insights, that are sure to go a long way in driving the social, economic, and environmental impact of Moto Hope Capital within the counties we serve in Kenya and beyond. We are thrilled to collaborate and partner with like-minded players to ardently support the entrepreneurial spirit, and realize the growth and success of MSMEs through tailored affordable financing and capacity building!
