📌The digital space is an ever-evolving territory, and with its growth, new challenges emerge—one of the most pressing being Technology Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). As technology continues to shape our daily lives, it's crucial that we examine how TFGBV manifests and explore ways to prevent and mitigate its impact. ✅️What should we focus on to address this issue and create safer online environments? ✅️What interventions is KICTANet implementing to combat this pressing problem? Today, Dr. Grace Githaiga discussed the critical importance of addressing gender-based violence, highlighting how each of us can contribute to building safer, more inclusive digital communities. Alongside her, Queenter Mbori Executive Director of AMWIK KENYA ,shared valuable insights from AMWIK Kenya’s latest findings on this issue. Catch the discussion on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Good Morning Show this morning. We are proud to share the success of the digital skills training in Busia County. These sessions aimed to empower persons with visual impairment by equipping them with essential digital skills to navigate and thrive in the digital age. The training focused on several key areas: ➡️ Cyber Hygiene: Ensuring online safety and security. ➡️ Internet Navigation: Building confidence in using digital tools. ➡️ Soft Skills: Enhancing communication and adaptability. ➡️ Cyberbullying Awareness: Recognizing and addressing online challenges. ➡️ Computer Navigation: Basics of using keyboards, screen readers, and other digital tools. As part of our commitment to holistic empowerment, we distributed white canes at Nangina Vocational Training Centre, Okame Technical and Vocational College and Busia Vocational Training Center, to enhance the mobility and independence of our participants. These efforts reflect our dedication to breaking barriers and creating opportunities for all. This impactful initiative, funded by the UK government’s Digital Access Programme (DAP) and delivered in collaboration with KICTANet, is a testament to the power of partnerships in transforming lives and bridging the digital divide. Together, we are building a future where no one is left behind.
