The LCF is a hub that brings innovation, networking, and exciting opportunities for the antitrust community
Chi siamo
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 (𝗟𝗖𝗙) is an innovative international event where all stakeholders – agencies, regulators, international organizations, law firms, companies, universities - of the antitrust community are brought together. Experts from a variety of backgrounds will address 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀. In the course of four days, the LCF will host cutting-edge debates on new competition tools and issues, discussions of selected international cases, and advanced academic contributions on competition law and policy, competition economics, and regulation. As we are aware of the valuable synergies that can arise from the LCF and between participants and partners that decide to adhere to the event, the 𝗟𝗖𝗙 offers the opportunity to become a partner to organise parallel sessions focused on innovative and critical topics and hot cases. In addition, the LCF24 will provide media sponsors the opportunity to become media partners and organize special sessions dedicated, for instance, to the discussion of a recently published book or the interview of leading experts in the field of antitrust. To support the next generation of antitrust practitioners, the LCF will host the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗬𝗧𝗖𝗔) for the best research proposal on topics related to competition submitted by young economists and lawyers who wish to pursue a professional or academic career in the field of antitrust. We will offer an exciting event that always aims at the highest quality standards.

At the Lear Competition Festival 2024, our partner Jones Day, represented by Mario Todino, provided valuable insights on the role of the new Commissioner and the future of merger control enforcement in the EU, leading the discussion with Italian competition authority DDG Andrea Pezzoli and Politico correspondent Francesca Micheletti. We thank them again for their contribution and the recording of the session is available at https://lnkd.in/eRVumGPK
At the EP hearings Yesterday, Commissioner designate for competition Teresa Ribera confirmed that she intends to be supportive of European companies building up scale on a global level. But she also said that enabling European champions in world markets should not be at the expense of European consumers. How will these potentially conflicting goals be reconciled is difficult to predict. For some tips on how things may unfold in the future when it comes to merger control enforcement in the EU, have a look at the chat I had with the Italian Competition Authority DDG Pezzoli and Politico correspondent for competition Francesca Micheletti at Lear Conference last month. https://lnkd.in/eRVumGPK

This was followed by a dynamic Competition Authority Roundtable featuring perspectives from France, Poland, and Greece, shared by Fabienne Siredey-Garnier, Tomasz Chróstny, and Hara Nikolopoulou. Yesterday, at the Lear Competition Festival, we had the privilege of hearing Professor Massimo Motta's critical assessment of the European Commission's draft guidelines on exclusionary abuses of dominance. He highlighted key areas for improvement and emphasized the role of sound economics in strengthening enforcement. It was a truly insightful keynote that promises to shape future discussions and policy!
