Mathias Bjørge and Marel partner to build one of the world's most advanced salmon factory 🤝 🐟 Earlier this year, Mathias Bjørge announced its investment in salmon, with construction of a new factory on Ellingsøya now underway. Over the past 18 months, we have been developing a cutting-edge solution for the project. "At the heart of the factory will be an intelligent distribution center designed to analyze raw materials, automatically sorting and distributing fish based on real-time data" says Hans Marius Martinsen, Sales Manager at Marel. "We can’t wait to open the new factory and produce our own fresh and frozen salmon fillets, in addition to frozen salmon portions locally," says co-owner Henning Bjørge We couldn’t agree more with Henning. Sotra Fiskeindustri AS invests in a new filleting line from Marel 🤝 🐟 Located just outside Bergen, Norway, Sotra Fiskeindustri AS processes salmon and trout with a yearly capacity of 30,000 tons. To boost capacity and efficiency in their filleting department, they chose to trial the Marel MS 2750 instead of upgrading their existing equipment. “Sotra conducted a very thorough test with fish of all sizes, both pre- and post-rigor. Nothing was overlooked or left untested,” says Kristian Hybertz Christensen, Product Specialist Filleting at Marel. After extensive testing, Sotra Fiskeindustri AS concluded that the new Marel MS 2750 was the best choice. “We had the machine on site, tested it, and compared it with other machines. We were pleasantly surprised by how well it performed,” says Oystein Noremark, Department Manager Filleting at Sotra.
