🌍 Milestone achieved for the ECHOES Project: IOD-1 is getting ready to launch🚀 We’re thrilled to share an exciting update from Berlin! IOD-1, our In-Orbit Demonstrator, has arrived in Berlin and is now set for integration with Exolaunch's deployer. The satellite will be launched as part of SpaceX's Transporter-13 mission in early 2025.   🌌 Developed within the #ECHOES project, this satellite is a significant leap toward enhancing aeronautical communications via satellite. When aircraft fly over the oceans, beyond 350 km from the coast, they vanish from ground-based radar coverage. Controllers rely on high-frequency radio and data link communications to maintain contact, but these methods are slow, creating delays and requiring greater separation between aircraft to ensure safety. 🚀 ECHOES is here to change that. ECHOES, a project supported by SESAR Joint Undertaking, aims to demonstrate the feasibility of space-based Very High Frequency (VHF) communications for both voice and datalink in air traffic management.
