⏪ As 2024 draws to a close, Interreg North-West Europe reflects on another productive year marked by key milestones and achievements. 📮 In March, we received an impressive 102 applications — a strong sign of interest in strengthening cooperation across North-West Europe. 🌟 In May, the Monitoring Committee approved our VIB Capitalisation Strategy, ensuring that the results of NWE projects expand their impact beyond their duration. 📣 Over the summer, we engaged with NWE stakeholders to contribute to the EU Commission’s consultation process on Interreg post 2027, gathering invaluable insights to shape the future of the NWE Programme. 🌐 October brought us to the EU Regions Week, where three NWE projects, GROOF, Care-Peat and FCRBE, showcased how transnational cooperation can tackle the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, protection of peatlands, as well as circularity in the building industry. 🏒 The NWE Annual Event in November with more than 320 attendees at the iconic Croke Park Stadium in Dublin was a true highlight, not only supporting project development for call 5, but also showcasing first results from approved VIB projects and collecting further input on hopes and wishes for the Programme post-2027. Check out the highlights of the event in this video📽️ https://buff.ly/401KkSc 🚀 And just in time for the holidays, the Monitoring Committee approved 25 new projects under call 4! We can’t wait to see these exciting initiatives take off in 2025. ❄️🫎 Now it’s time for a well-deserved break: our offices are closed from 25 December 2024 to 1 January 2025. The North-West Europe Joint Secretariat wishes you a joyful holiday season and a fantastic start to the new year! ⭐🎄☃ #interreg #cooperation

🤝 Last week, our Programme Director David Grzegorzewski met with Dali Malnoury, an IVY volunteer supporting our NWE #UpcyclingTrust project! IVY, or Interreg Volunteer Youth, is an EU Commission initiative operated by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR). The programme enables young volunteers to bring their passion, skills, and energy to host organisations while gaining valuable experience with Interreg projects and Programmes. As part of his volunteering, Dali joined the Community Land Trust Brussels and will help develop a new model for permanently affordable and energy-efficient housing, while experiencing transnational cooperation firsthand with project partners across 5 cities in 3 countries. ✨ Reflecting on the Future of Interreg at the Post27 Harvesting Event! On 25 and 26 November 2024, Interreg NWE participated in the 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟳 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 for Joint Secretariats and Managing Authorities. Hosted by DG REGIO European Commission and co-organised by Interact Programme, the event was a deep dive into the ongoing Post 27 consultations and the future of Interreg. Some key takeaways: 🔑 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 The content and structure of future Interreg Programmes remain undecided. DG REGIO is still actively seeking meaningful, bottom-up input from stakeholders and Programmes. 🤝 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗨 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 The EU’s most pressing issues demand collective action and synergy across EU instruments. Interreg has already demonstrated its value as a facilitator and integrator on that level, making it indispensable for future cooperation. ♻️ 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 Emerging insights from stakeholder consultations indicate that tackling climate challenges is a clear priority for Post27. 📊 𝗔 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 Post27 could usher in a transformative move from traditional, financial-input monitoring to 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀, prioritising results, impact, and systemic simplification across EU funding instruments. 🇪🇺 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 The Post27 consultation process embodies the essence of European values—cooperation, participation, and trust. With thousands of citizens and stakeholders engaged across all Interreg programmes– it possibly is one of the most large-scale participatory exercises in the history of Interreg. Want to stay in the loop on Post27? ➡️ Keep an eye out for updates—including the main outcomes of Interreg NWE’s own stakeholder consultations, which we’ll share in early 2025.
