We’re pleased that the IFC - International Finance Corporation has partnered once again with Kasada, with the IFC providing US$16 million of debt finance to support Kasada’s ongoing redevelopment of the hotel in Kigali, Rwanda, that we acquired in 2022, and rebranded Mövenpick Kigali. We’re proud that the IFC and Kasada are continuing to support the fast-growing tourism and hospitality sector in Rwanda, bringing in foreign direct investment and significantly contributing to the local economy, skills development and employment, creating up to 200 direct jobs during the renovation and construction phases and through the hiring of hotel staff. 2024 has been an incredible year, full of milestones we’re proud to carry forward. Here are a few highlights: We proudly launched Eneo at Tatu Central in Kenya – a cutting-edge BPO facility built by our amazing all-female development team. They crushed it, finishing ahead of schedule, under budget, and creating 3070 construction jobs and more than 4,500 permanent jobs in the process. In addition, both Eneo and our diplomatic housing development, Rosslyn Grove in Nairobi were awarded IFC EDGE Advanced certification on the back of these developments achieving 40% or more on-site energy savings compared to conventional building methods. Through our partnership with Buildher, we were also able to empower 34 women from underserved communities in Nairobi, helping them gain skills in construction, finance, and life that will last a lifetime. All these activities culminated in Eneo taking home the award for Best Mixed-Use Development at the prestigious API Events Summit. Further underscoring our commitment to impact real estate, GREA received IFC EDGE Champion status based on our commitments in this regard, and the sustainable building practices at our developments to date. On top of that, we strengthened our ties with key investors, with the GEPF supporting a US$100 million capital raise and appointing a representative to our board, marking an exciting new chapter of growth and collaboration. Moreover, the GEPF named GREA as their strategic real estate platform for their rest-of-Africa investments, positioning us well for future growth!
