This milestone marks NEOM's first climate-resilient agricultural facility, paving the way for sustainable food production in the NEOM region and other arid areas. This greenhouse spans four hectares of state-of-the-art facilities and will produce almost 2,000 metric tons of fruit and vegetables. It will test cutting-edge technologies to improve crop productivity and enhance food security, while reducing the environmental impact. Our high-tech greenhouse in Oxagon Innovation Bay will produce nearly 2,000 metric tons of fresh, local fruit and vegetables annually. *But what will they eat??* - One of the common curly questions about trying to build large new population centres in the desert. Part of the answer is to harness innovative methods of food production to help overcome some of the challenges of feeding NEOM's future population. NEOM's food sector, and it's food company TOPIAN, are doing just that. The latest development is a newly-opened 'greenhouse' project based at Oxagon - deploying cutting-edge robotics and agricultural technology to produce fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and strawberries in an otherwise inhospitable environment. The greenhouse hosts 330,000 heads of lettuce across 2.5 acres. The same amount of lettuce would otherwise take 70 acres of fertile land to produce - and largely couldn't be grown at all in Saudi conditions. Thanks to the fully-controled environment dramatically less water is used, and chemical pesticides are avoided altogether. The focus for this facility is premium produce to be sold directly to high-end restaurants around the Kingdom (including at NEOM's ultra-luxury island resort, Sindalah). And it will be a testing ground and proof-point for larger-scale facilities, turning one of NEOM's unique challenges into an innovation opportunity.

Join Topian in celebrating the success of the 23 trainees who have successfully completed 180 training hours on the first Estidamah-Topian greenhouse-production and business-management program held in Riyadh. The participants received their certification in last week's award ceremony. As follow-up, two outstanding participants have been offered employment at Topian's greenhouses in Oxagon and Tabuk. Three program attendees will be selected to participate as interns on Estidamah-led projects, funded by Topian.
