#CDLAlumni OraQ AI has closed a $2.6 million round in seed funding. OraQ has created a dental software solution that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to automate data collection, leading to to more accurate and informed decisions around diagnosis and treatment planning, and in turn, improved patient outcomes. The round was led by AngelMD, and the funds will be used to refine OraQ's technology and bring the platform to more dental professionals across North America. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gku_Z3UV

Nearly 15 University of Calgary researchers and alumni, including two #CDLAlumni, have been recognized at the 35th ASTech Awards! The ASTech Awards showcase Alberta's excellence in science, technology and innovation. #CDLAlumni NanoTess took home the award for Medical, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals - Application (Company), while #CDLAlumni and Haskayne ScaleUp alumni Summit Nanotech received the award for Innovation in Cleantech. #CDLAlumni Carbon Upcycling Technologies has completed a three-year study, with the results highlighting the environmental benefits of its concrete mix. The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the National Road Research Alliance were also part of the study on the use of low-carbon cement in concrete. Carbon Upcycling's technology upcycles point-source industrial CO2 emissions and local industrial waste materials into high-performance, low-carbon cement alternatives. The study showed that the company's concrete mix was stronger and required less material than the control concrete mix. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gviDr2yD

Megan O'Connor, founder of #CDLAlumni Nth Cycle, has been named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Climate Leaders in Business for 2024! The TIME100 Climate list "represents multitudes of individuals making significant progress in influencing the business of climate change." Nth Cycle, which graduated from the CDL-Rockies Energy stream in 2020, developed a recycling technology that uses carbon filters for enhanced separation and recovery of rare earth metals from e-waste streams for reuse in the clean energy sector. It is the first company in the U.S. to successfully extract nickel and cobalt on a commercial scale from scrap and refine it to be used in clean technologies. Read more: https://lnkd.in/erKRieJU

Wyvern, an alumni of the Haskayne ScaleUp program and graduate of the CDL-Toronto Space stream, is using technology to pinpoint "invisible problems" from space. The space data company collects high-quality hyperspectral images of Earth that can support various industries, including agriculture, forestry, mining and energy.
