We’re teaming up with The Salvation Army in Canada for the 15th year in a row to help ensure the immediate needs of struggling Canadians are met during the holiday season.  For every donation made in store to Salvation Army Christmas kettles on Fill the Kettle Day (this Saturday, Dec. 21), Walmart Canada will match it, up to a maximum of $100,000.  Look out for the Christmas kettles in your local Walmart store. Donations to the Christmas kettles stay in the local community to give help and hope at Christmastime and throughout the year. Each Christmas, we’re proud to donate funds to CTV’s Toy Mountain campaign.  Now in its 29th year, businesses, schools, organizations, community groups, and CTV viewers are invited to collect and donate toys to local families in need.  We donated to three local Toy Mountain campaigns (Ottawa, Winnipeg, and Toronto) in support of The Salvation Army in Canada, for a total of $55,000. Pup, pup hooray! We’re excited to share we teamed up with the City of Langford to open a new off-leash area for dogs to play next to our Langford store! 🐶🐾 In a first for Walmart Canada, we entered into a license agreement with the City of Langford to reimagine the space next to our store as an off-leash dog space. The fully fenced, 21,000 sq ft area welcomes dogs of all sizes and gives dog owners a dedicated, safe, and secure place for their dogs to exercise, socialize and play. As soon as Penelope Pick-Quibell (Penny) started at Walmart Canada, she knew it was the place for her. She loved how Walmart’s culture and inclusiveness matched her high energy personality. She still feels that same sense of excitement every day she walks into work 11 years later.  Penny also feels passionate about our purpose to help Canadians save money to live better. Her family struggled financially while she was growing up, and she feels motivated every day to work hard to make sure she’s doing her part to help save our customers money. As a people-led, tech-powered omnichannel retailer, we’re always exploring how technology can play an important role in driving engagement by creating more enriching jobs. Last week, our Chief People Officer AnnMarie Mercer joined executives from Dayforce and IBM Canada at the HRPA - Human Resources Professionals Association Summit to discuss how organizations can effectively integrate AI and leverage the technology to empower employees.   Technology, including GenAI, is a tool we can use to make our associates’ jobs better and is a critical part of our future at Walmart. AnnMarie spoke about Walmart’s people-first approach to everything we do, and how that shapes our strategy around learning, change, and adoption of AI. This holiday season, we’re spreading joy and giving back in a big way! Our annual Spark a Miracle campaign in support of Children’s Miracle Network launched Nov. 14 and runs to Dec. 24. New this year, on Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3), we will donate $1 from every toy sold in-store or online to the Children’s Miracle Network up to $200,000!
