Today, The Salvation Army in Canada is launching a Christmas fundraising campaign we’re calling “Impossible Choices”. The campaign shows a world filled with impossible choices—a reality for many living in poverty—and how these choices can change the way they see the world around them. Canadians from coast to coast are having to face impossible choices like whether to pay for housing or put food on the table for their families. People who thought they’d never need help are struggling today because of the different crises we are facing as a society. They come from every walk of life, every small town and every big city across our nation. There are more children, seniors, students, and people with employment accessing our services than ever before. When someone living in poverty is faced with an impossible choice, your donation is their answer. Donate today - https://bit.ly/4fUSpgH

Families across Canada are grappling with high food prices and the cost of living. One in four parents say they eat less so family members can be fed. People are facing impossible choices every day—not to mention affording Christmas presents. Together, and with your generosity, we can help provide nutritious meals and stock our food bank shelves.

The Salvation Army had the privilege of attending the Liberal Christmas reception in Ottawa this week, where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise appearance. The prime minister delivered a Christmas reflection for people of faith, encouraging attendees to embody Jesus' message of kindness, peace and love, which is our calling as His followers and is at the heart of who we are as Canadians. One of the event sponsors, MP Jean Yip, recently put forward a private member's motion, M-171, to declare December Canadian Christian Month, which was received warmly by attendees at the reception. "It was a wonderful celebration that left participants with a greater sense of the Christmas gospel message of hope, peace, joy and love for all Canadians," says Major Rick Zelinsky, director of public affairs.

The now four-week-old strike by Canada Post is hurting The Salvation Army, which relies heavily on the holiday season for donations. With the disruption in mail delivery, a dramatic shortfall in fundraising jeopardizes The Salvation Army’s ability to provide essential programs and services in the 400 Canadian communities we serve. As Canada Post strike continues, Salvation Army asks donors to give online, by phone or at our kettles to support those in need this Christmas. https://bit.ly/4irKHfN
