  • As we get ready to celebrate the holidays, many of us are feeling the pinch of rising costs. Whether it's gifts, groceries, or simply making ends meet, the affordability crisis is hitting hard. It's a time of giving, but it's also a time to make our voices heard. Now is the perfect moment to send a letter to your Member of Parliament and let them know how the cost of living is affecting you and your community. Your message can make a difference in pushing for the changes needed to ease financial pressures for all Canadians and create policies that prioritize working families, ensure the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share, and promote a more equitable distribution of Canada's wealth to better serve the public interest. Send a message to your Member of Parliament, spread the word, and take action! Ask your elected representatives what actions they are taking to address the affordability crisis: https://lnkd.in/gttB64kE

  • Exciting times for young UFCW Canada activists! Recently, participants from across the country came together in British Columbia for Phase 2 of the Young Workers Internship Program (YIP). This session focused on political campaigns, providing hands-on experience during the recent B.C. election. Attendees developed essential skills in mobilizing young voters and driving turnout for pro-worker candidates. As Kayle Scoville from UFCW 361W stated, “YIP has positively impacted not just me personally, but those in my professional life.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/geqB4J3Y

As they stand firm for fair wages and benefits, UFCW members are sending a strong message about their vital role in the success of the company. “Our members at Mobile Climate play an integral role in the success of this company and the members don’t accept that what the company has put forth as its final offer is the best that it can do in terms of wages and benefits,” said Kelly Tosato, President of UFCW Local 175. • Workers at the Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre (OATC) are among the newest members of UFCW 175 after voting overwhelmingly in favour of joining the UFCW family. UFCW 175 already represents workers at many OATC units across Ontario: the workers at the London branch contacted the union after encouragement from UFCW members at other OATC units. The newest members sought to join the union to address issues including job insecurity, mistreatment, scheduling issues, and favoritism by management. “These members have seen the difference that joining a Union can make and they decided they wanted better for themselves and their co-workers. We encourage all workers to speak up and make your voice heard by joining the Union,” said UFCW Local 175 President Kelly Tosato. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gxrK8_cB
