I've been accepted into the Canadian Women's Chamber of Commerce (CanWCC) autumn cohort of Flip the Script! This hand picked group of female entrepreneurs will learn how to navigate the Canadian investment network and pitch to investors to maximize funding. In Canada women, women-identifying and non-binary entrepreneurs own 31% of businesses, but receive only 3% of venture capital. Research shows that the language investors use when talking to women entrepreneurs accounts for this disparity. Flip the Script empowers women to turn this bias on it's head by controlling the narrative when talking about their business. I'm looking forward to what I'm going to learn in this 5 month program and can't wait to pass on some of this new knowledge to other female founders looking to raise capital! It's been a minute... And for good reason. March was an unbelievably jam-packed month! From coaching to pitch nights, to onboarding new clients to speaking engagements, the vibe was palpable. - I had the unique opportunity to participate as a coach/mentor for Alberta Catalyzer's Engage cohort, working weekly with three innovative, passionate companies to help bring their ideas to life. I can't wait to see where they take their businesses from here! Thank you to Aydan Mukhtarli 🚀and Christina Garies for running such an excellent program. - Nine companies from across #alberta were selected for Alberta Catalyzer's Velocity cohort, and I worked with some of them to provide pitch coaching. Attending their pitch night at Platform Calgary allowed them to showcase their companies and demonstrate how far they've come in the process. Congrats again to Pouria Shahbazi who won the People's Choice Award that night (I had the privilege of working with him on his pitch). Thank you to Anes Rachid for getting me involved with the cohort. - I sat down with Adam Delgado from North Technology People to discuss how a strong GTM helps you achieve product market fit. My top tip - Deeply understand the pain your are solving for your target audience: What is the problem you are solving, for whom, and why should they care? April has been just as intense and rewarding.
