From Refugee to School Bus Driver: A Dream Fulfilled in Canada - Abdul Rahim - Abdul Rahim arrived in Canada in November 2023 as a refugee from Afghanistan, determined to build a better future for his large family of eight children. His dream was to become a school bus driver, a role that would allow him to support his family and contribute to his community. Adbul participated in Polycultural’s Transition to Employment for Newcomers (TEN) program, funded by IRCC, where he received comprehensive support for over 3 months. He was guided and supported by his employment counsellor, Hamid, who helped him tailor his resume, apply effective job search strategies and practice interviews. He not only obtained his commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a school bus endorsement, but also became employed as a School Bus Driver at Sharp Bus Line Services in Scarborough. Reflecting on his journey, Abdul Rahim said, "I am very thankful to Polycultural for this great support, I will never forget this all my life. The impact you are making on the community is huge—you change lives and build futures. Now I can work and help my children pursue education. I am very, very grateful for the support"
