Almost $5,000 raised—3 families supported! As our Giving Tuesday campaign wraps up, we’re reflecting on the generosity of this community and the tangible difference you’ve made. $5,000 means three parents will have access to an entire group journey—an average of nine months of postpartum group support for each parent. That’s three families who will find connection, validation, and hope as they navigate the postpartum period. Your donations, shares, and stories have shown the power of community in ensuring no parent faces postpartum struggles alone. If you missed any of the inspiring moments—parent stories, partner shoutouts, and videos showcasing your impact—head over to our Instagram to see the love in action. From all of us at Pacific Postpartum Support Society, thank you for making this possible. Together, we are creating real, lasting change in maternal mental health. #thankyou #givingtuesday #maternalmentalhealth #PPPSS
Pacific Post Partum Support Society
Mental Health Care
Providing perinatal support since 1971.
About us
Pacific Post Partum Support Society has been supporting mothers and their families experiencing postpartum/perinatal distress, depression and anxiety since 1971. The program started in 1971 as a grass roots initiative when a small group of women began meeting at the Vancouver Crisis Line office to share their experiences and support each other around postpartum issues. This established the pattern for our treatment model: mothers supporting mothers. This was a new approach to addressing the issues of postpartum depression and one that has since influenced changes in postpartum support. Over the years, our programs have developed based on the needs of those we serve. Today we reach out to approximately 3,500 mothers and families each year. Statement of Belief 1. We believe that postpartum depression is a multidimensional problem with social factors such as isolation, poverty, lack of childcare and the stressful nature of mothering playing important roles. 2. We believe that through mutual aid and emotional support, women are empowered to engineer their own recovery and to learn skills of self-care, which encourage healthy life choices for themselves and their families. 3. We believe that it is healing for a woman with postpartum depression to share her experiences, in confidence, and to receive non-judgemental support and understanding from other women who have resolved, or who are in the process of resolving, their own depression.

Continuing our LinkedIn edition of our 12 Days of Giving Campaign... As we work toward a future where no parent faces postpartum struggles alone, we’re deeply grateful for the incredible partners who share our vision. Postpartum depression (PPD) doesn’t just affect new mothers—it can affect the whole family. Research shows that non-birthing partners can experience PPD themselves, with symptoms like anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances, and feelings of isolation. These challenges are often under-discussed, but they play a vital role in shaping the mental health of the entire family unit. At Pacific Postpartum Support Society (PPPSS), partner support groups provide a safe space for non-birthing partners to connect, share experiences, and access mental health resources. Through these groups, partners can share and hear from people going through the same experiences as them, creating a space where they feel less alone. Check out our carousel to hear what partners had to say about our support groups. By supporting PPPSS, you’re not just helping parents—you’re supporting entire families. Your donation enables us to continue offering essential partner support groups and resources that have a lasting impact on family well-being. Join us in making a difference for parents and families in need by donating to our 12 Days of Giving campaign. Every contribution counts! We care deeply about the places where we work and live, and we make an effort to contribute to our communities. On Giving Tuesday each year, we ask our team to pick the organizations they’d like to support, and we match their donations. Here’s who we picked in 2023: - Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada - Rising Tide Surf Team - Indspire - Cetus Research & Conservation Society - Island Sexual Health Society - Cowichan Brain Injury Society - Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) - Pacific Post Partum Support Society - Sustainable Food Edmonton - Nature-Based Solutions Foundation - Taghum Hall We loved seeing the variety of causes that our team cares about!
