About us
The mission of the One North End Community Economic Development Society is to work closely with key stakeholders; community members and organizations, community leaders, not-for-profit organizations and charities, industry, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), other government departments (OGDs), other levels of government, and academia to identify, address, and seek solutions to issues affecting visible minority groups and other potentially vulnerable or disenfranchised groups, and conduct work as determined by the Board of Directors and Executive, which stand to benefit the greater North End Halifax community. The EDGE program is funded by DCS, and is a joint program between The YMCA and The One North End Community Economic Development Society.

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that the ReCover Initiative has been awarded $17.5million by the Federal Government to implement the Deep Retrofit Accelerator Initiative (DRAI) and Greener Neighbourhoods Pilot Program (GNPP) in Atlantic Canada! The announcement was made in Vancouver, BC, by the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. To raise awareness about climate change and promote a greener economy in our African Nova Scotian communities, we have partnered with NextRide, a non-profit low-carbon transportation initiative. Together, we are exploring the feasibility and benefits of electric transportation. Join us this Saturday, July 20th, in North Preston from 10 am to 3 pm to test drive and learn more about electric vehicles. Plus, you'll have a chance to win an electric bike! And that's not all!
