If you lose a child, you lose a generation. No child should die from malaria. But almost 600,000 people died from the disease in 2023, according to the World Health Organization World Malaria Report 2024, which was published today. And most of these deaths were young children in Africa. However, there is hope. Let’s come together to finally defeat malaria. It’s our responsibility. “Disability and inclusion are important because we know diversity of thought is how we come with innovative ideas, and innovative ideas is how you transform an industry or a sector”. Meet Brian Robbins, our Head Integrated Insights Oncology International. A strong supporter of our Disability-Equity commitments, he is motivated by his personal experiences and hearing loss as a result of a cold, Brian believes inclusion is critical in reaching collective impact, so that we can reimagine medicine, together. Today we’re marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Take a few minutes to listen to Brian’s story and reflect on the daily impact that invisible disabilities can have. Today, Novartis upgraded our mid-term guidance at our Meet Novartis Management event for investors and analysts in London. As our leadership team outlined, Novartis projects higher sales growth over the next five years. These updated expectations are a result of our robust clinical development program, since transforming into an innovative medicines company. As a result, Novartis now has more than 30 potential high-value medicines in our current pipeline. This revised outlook also builds on the strong momentum outlined in recent quarterly earnings as our current portfolio of breakthrough treatments continues to reach more patients in new markets. We’re excited about the road ahead. And look forward to seeing how these medicines improve and extend patients’ lives in the years to come. Innovation only matters when it reaches those who need it. Today, we are honored that Novartis has been ranked first in the 2024 Access to Medicine Index. This recognition reinforces our commitment to improving access to breakthrough medicines for people around the world, regardless of their location or socio-economic status. While we are grateful for this recognition, there is still a large unmet need for medicines —some life-changing, others potentially life-saving— and Novartis is committed to further broaden access to innovation and create sustainable impact. Thank you to our 70,000+ associates and our partners who work tirelessly to make inclusive healthcare a reality. Because every patient matters. Everywhere. #AccessToMedicine #Sustainability #HealthEquity Access to Medicine Foundation
