We’re ready to “Let it Beat”. 💓 In collaboration with Golazo Energy and Ligue Cardiologique Belge / Belgische Cardiologische Liga, we kicked off a unique training program for 27 ambassadors to take on the challenge of training for a 10 km or half marathon with special care for heart health. In this video, you'll hear about the ambassadors’ first impressions and the program’s goals and running tips by Siegrid De Ridder and Simon Van Langenhove. Gina Volkaert explains how this initiative and managing your risk factors can contribute to saving lives given that 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable. Get ready to follow the ambassadors’ journey—and maybe even join the movement! In its Report to Society, pharma.be – of which our country president Federico Mambretti is a board member – looks back on 2024. It was a year with challenges when it comes to European competitiveness and fast and broad access to medicines, but also one of continued innovation in our Belgian pharma valley. Three highlights from the report: 🥇 Belgium is number one when it comes to investments in research & development per capita. Every day, the sector invests 15,5 million euro in R&D. 🔬 When it comes to clinical research, Belgium holds the top position – although this is under pressure. Clinical trials are crucial in the development of new medicines, while they also provide patients with access to the newest treatments before they are on the market. 🎯 Radioligand therapy, an important new pillar in the fight against cancer, gained a lot of traction in 2024. Research institutes, patient associations, public services, etc. worked together on the ‘RLT action plan’ to make the Belgian healthcare system RLT-proof and ensure that people with cancer can have access to this pioneering therapy. We are proud of how Novartis has contributed to a healthier society and we look forward to continuing our efforts in improving and extending people’s lives, with a firm belief in tomorrow's opportunities. • In Belgium, around 110 to 220 people live with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare blood disorder which can be life-threatening. Those living with PNH are at risk of thrombosis, and low hemoglobin levels can lead to symptomatic anemia, fatigue and other symptoms that can affect their overall wellbeing. Due to its rarity and complex symptoms, PNH can be hard to diagnose, with individuals waiting an average of 2 years for a diagnosis. Timely intervention is essential for people with PNH. That’s why, at Novartis, we are committed to help raise awareness of PNH and find ways for patients to live a life free from the impact of PNH and its symptoms. #PNH #ReimagineMedicine FA-11324924, 4 December 2024

  • Quality is a key priority in all areas of our work. Patients and healthcare practitioners rightfully expect from us the highest quality standards. It is a collective responsibility within our organization, not confined solely to our Quality team. In recognition of World Quality Week earlier this month, the team organized an escape room experience to emphasize this shared commitment. Colleagues had to look for clues in order to get a live-changing medicine in time to a patient. Besides great fun, it was also a nice educational refresher to immerse colleagues in the critical work of ensuring high standards. Our Medical Science Liaisons and Study & Site Operations team rocked it with an escape in just 39 minutes and 29 seconds! 🏆 Congratulations Silke Vermaerke Jelka Van De Vliet Julien De Poortere Hannah De Baere Tine Schepers Nele Decruy Nina Wegge! #WorldQualityWeek #QualityFirst #NovartisTogether

Or do you know someone who would be a great match? 👇 FR: https://lnkd.in/e6p7jCJH NL: https://lnkd.in/eRv9r3Za 📅 Applications are open until Thursday, 28 November! #NovartisTogether #HeartHealth #LetItBeat #EuropeanRunningChampionships2025

  • 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable. It all starts with being aware of our risk factors and taking care of our heart. 💓 Whether it's getting active (with daily walks or... by participating in a half-marathon!), having a balanced diet, managing stress, or keeping up with regular health check-ups: each step can play a key role in heart health. That’s why we have at heart to be the official healthcare partner of the first-ever European Running Championships organized by Golazo Group in April 2025, supporting your journey to a healthier heart. 🏃♂️ It will be an historic event where athletes of all levels - amateurs and professionals - will share the same starting line. Join the movement towards better heart health, one stride at a time. Let it beat! For more info: https://lnkd.in/eSZzS_d3 #NovartisTogether #HeartHealth #europeanrunningchampionships2025

  • Innovation only matters when it reaches those who need it. 🌍💊   Today we want to share a piece of news we are really proud of: Novartis has been ranked first in the 2024 Access to Medicine Index. This recognition reinforces our commitment to improving access to breakthrough medicines for people around the world, regardless of their location or socio-economic status.    While we are grateful for this recognition, there is still a large unmet need for medicines —some life-changing, others potentially life-saving— and we are committed to further broaden access to innovation and create sustainable impact.   Thank you to our 70,000+ associates around the globe and our partners who work tirelessly to make inclusive healthcare a reality. Because every patient matters. Everywhere.   #ReimagineMedicineTogether #AccessToMedicine #HealthEquity   Access to Medicine Foundation

  • In her 15-year journey with us, Tamara Haentjens has exemplified the spirit of growth and innovation at Novartis Belux. Starting in regulatory affairs, Tamara was responsible for the clinical trial submissions to, and follow-up on, Medical Need and Compassionate Use programs with the health authorities - given her previous work experience, this was a chance to build upon her knowledge on these topics. While in regulatory affairs, she had the opportunity to do a job rotation in what was then known as market access, eventually joining the Value & Access team. Tamara's career is an example to our commitment to professional development. Her story highlights the power of flexibility at Novartis, offering her the opportunity to navigate her career path while contributing significantly to patient care. Her ability to balance professional aspirations with personal commitments, especially in light of her family needs, underscores the supportive and flexible work culture we champion. Tamara's journey is one of inspiration and impact, showcasing the possibilities that arise from a nurturing environment where learning and innovation flourish. #NovartisTogether #NovartisLife #JustPeople

  • “Patients need access to the right treatment at the right time.” It is essential that people with unmet medical needs are not overlooked, writes Dr. sandra amaral, our Country Head of Medical Affairs. She dedicated her career to this cause and has learned from experience that closer collaboration can lead to significant improvements in patient access. “Stakeholders need to work together to find solutions which get patients access to the treatments they need the most, while ensuring the sustainability of our healthcare systems. To work together, we also need to ensure we trust each other.” Healthcare professionals, the industry, patient organizations, policymakers, and payers all have crucial roles in ensuring timely and sustainable access to advanced medicines. When we all roll up our sleeves and work together, patients in Belgium win. 💪 For more on reimagining access in Belgium, read Sandra’s perspective here. • It was a pleasure to host curious minds at our Vilvoorde office for a round table organized by A Seat At The Table (ASATT), a Belgian non-profit providing opportunities for young, diverse talent. Our Country President Federico Mambretti inspired students by explaining how our commitment as partner in the healthcare ecosystem improves life expectancy. Did you know that the Federal Planning Bureau projects that by 2070, life expectancy in Belgium will reach 90 years for women and 88 for men? We are proud that our efforts in reimagining medicine contribute to these advancements towards a society where people live better and longer ✨ #NovartisTogether #ReimagineMedicine #ASATT #HealthcareInnovation
