🌟 Celebrating Kwanzaa: Culture, History, and Unity 🌟 We were honoured to attend this vibrant Kwanzaa celebration hosted by the African Canadian Heritage Association on Saturday, December 7th, at the CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals. This inspiring event brought the community together to honour African history, creativity, and unity for youth aged 5–18 and their families through engaging arts, crafts, and cultural programming. The 7 principles of Kwanzaa—particularly UMOJA (Unity), UJIMA (Collective Work & Responsibility), and UJAMAA (Cooperative Economics)—resonate deeply with our shared mission to empower Black youth. Events like this showcase the power of collaboration and cultural pride, which NDC Trades holds as a cornerstone to its mandate of empowering our youth through skilled trades. 🌍 ✨ Happy Kwanzaa! ✨🌍 Today, we join in celebrating Kwanzaa—a beautiful week-long tradition from December 26th to January 1st that honours African heritage, culture, and unity. 🖤💚❤️ Kwanzaa, founded in 1966 in the USA and celebrated by parts of the African diaspora worldwide, is inspired by African harvest traditions, particularly those from East and Southern Africa and the Swahili language. 🌍 Kwanzaa is guided by 7 powerful principles (Nguzo Saba): 🤝 1. Umoja (Unity): Striving for togetherness. 🌅 2. Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): Defining and naming ourselves. 🔗 3.
