Today is Giving Tuesday, a day for acts of kindness and one of the largest generosity movements in the world which unleashes the power of people and organizations. This year, our very own President's Choice Children's Charity will provide nearly 1 million kids with access to healthy snacks and meals at school – which is the most the Charity will have ever reached! To celebrate President's Choice Children's Charity’s great work and commitment to feeding hungry minds, Loblaw is donating an additional $150,000 to the Charity this #GivingTuesday. If you’re able, we invite you to donate online at https://lnkd.in/graCzDj6

Loblaw Companies Limited reposted this
November is Food Waste Awareness Month at Loblaw Companies Limited! Throughout the month, we’ll be taking the time to celebrate our amazing colleagues who are putting in the work daily to help us get closer to our goal of sending zero food waste to landfill by 2030. Our store operators are really the heroes of food waste diversion throughout our business. Did you know that 100% of our eligible stores are matched with a local food bank or food recovery agency? From ensuring food that is still good to eat makes it to a local food bank or food recovery agency, to stocking the Flashfood fridge and freezers in-store with healthy produce and other perishable goods providing our customers with savings we can all be proud of, our operators are always there to help us feed more families. But the reality is, not all food is suitable for human consumption. This is why we’ve partnered with Loop Resource Ltd. to help us send food to local farms to feed their animals. We’re also helping to generate renewable electricity in Ontario through our partnership with ZooShare Biogas Co-operative Biogas Cooperative by combining used cooking oil and food no longer fit for human consumption with animal manure from the Toronto Zoo. Today, our partner Second Harvest released a report entitled The Avoidable Crisis of Food Waste: Update. This new research, funded by Loblaw, reveals that over 46% of all food in Canada is wasted every year – 41% of which is avoidable. Good food should be eaten not tossed. We’re committed to sending zero food to landfill by 2030 and to feeding more families in Canada.
