Big shout out to staff from CAYR COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS and our partners for bringing harm reduction to this conversation!
Teamwork makes the dream work! Local hospitals, primary care professionals and York Region Public Health (YRPH) all share a role in promoting community health. A half-day academic session for Southlake Regional Health Centre’s family medicine residents on Substance Use Harm Reduction brought these health care partners together recently to share information and hear valuable speakers from YRPH, Addiction Services Central Ontario(ASCO), London InterCommunity Health Centre (LIHC), Dr. Andrea Sereda, CAYR COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS and the Krasman Centre. Dr. Barry Pakes, York Region Medical Officer of Health, and Dr. Fareen Karachiwalla, Associate Medical Officer of Health, also presented to staff at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital this week to share insights on public health programs and services. Just two recent examples of how YRPH is staying connected with health care partners - all working together to advance good health!
