Past Thursday, it was TechConnex year-end event focused on "Unlocking AI's Potential" at AMD in Markham. Three takeaways for someone like me who is not remotely as hands-on and involved as many of you #AI experts out there: ▶️ Once again, the spring of AI has, perhaps fully, sprung! It is OK, and maybe we should be an "optimistic," "pessimistic," or "alarmist" at the same time about this new spring of AI, as described by Chris Smith in his keynote. ▶️ Many of us are concerned about the privacy and security of data in the adoption of AI tools! Though the native AI tools of where we store our data (like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, or Amazon "Q," ..) can at least avoid moving the data and create data in-transit risks, as reminded to us by Arik Kalininsky. ▶️ There is a greater risk of creating "waste"! The cost & time to create solutions are reduced thanks to the myriad of new AI tools. Now it is more tempting to create solutions without customer-driven problem statements at hand and then try to find customers for them. This leads to a lot of rewriting and waste of power and resources, as highlighted by Alireza Sharifi, PhD, CISSP ✴️ The agenda was a perfect blend of daily best practices and macro-level market dynamics: ✔️ A keynote by Chris Smith, the Corporate Vice President, Software and Firmware at AMD, on "AI’s roadmap to the future and its role in shaping tomorrow’s business landscape." ✔️ An interesting presentation by CTO at Dalikoo Arik Kalininsky on "How to Harness AI for Immediate Impact in Your Organization." ✔️ An insightful presentation by Kent Peel and Panos PanagioTakopoulos, GenAI Thought Leaders Seneca Polytechnic on "Unlock the Human Potential Behind Successful AI Integration." ✔️ And finally a talk on "AI with Caution: What to Watch Out for and How to Build a Robust AI Toolkit," presented by Alireza Sharifi, PhD, CISSP (Co-Founder and Partner NuBinary), Victor Anjos (CTO in Fair & Creative-backed AI Laetro), and Christopher Ferguson (Technology, Privacy and Cybersecurity lawyer at Fasken). ✔️ a panel of all speakers and the Q&A It was great seeing you all! 🙏 Thank you Kelley Phillips, Ryan Ellis, and John Cameron at TechConnex for this incredible gathering. 🚀 Wish everyone a great AI spring and many fruitful outcomes!
