Artificial Intelligence for Clean Energy
About us
BluWave-ai is focused on driving the proliferation of renewable energy and electric transportation worldwide. Our solutions apply artificial intelligence (AI) cloud software to optimize the cost, carbon footprint and reliability of different energy sources, both renewable and non-renewable, in real-time. This lets our customers – utilities, fleet operators and electricity system operators to improve their energy-related decision making in planning and in live systems to decrease costs and carbon footprint. Every day our employees come to BluWave-ai with the mission to decarbonize the planet by using hardware assets more efficiently with AI software while we build the world's premier renewable energy and transport electrification AI company based in Canada. In 2017 we started BluWave-ai to bring state-of-the-art techniques from supercomputing, artificial Intelligence, and edge computing to the world of distributed renewable energy. With distributed resources, clean energy can be produced anywhere by anyone, moving the world away from centralized carbon-based emitting sources. But real-time computing is needed to predict production and optimize how to use these resources. Electrical output from renewable energy sources like wind and solar fluctuates and is inherently difficult for utilities to manage. This results in renewables generation often being under-utilized, with operators relying on fossil fuels as a fallback. Our grid energy optimization platform balances the cost, availability, and carbon footprint of different energy sources - renewable and non-renewable - with energy demand in real-time. We are improving the use of wind and solar energy by 10-20 percent. We work with electricity utilities, enterprises, electric fleet operators, large campuses, government operations, net zero communities, and remote/off-grid clients around the globe to make their hardware investments smarter with our AI-enabled SaaS software.

As electric vehicle (EV) adoption grows, drivers are not only embracing a CLEANER mode of transportation—they're also playing a KEY ROLE in transforming energy systems and supporting the grid. EVs are evolving from simple consumers of electricity to active contributors to grid services. They help reduce strain on the power network and offer grid operators a valuable tool for balancing energy demand and enhancing grid resilience. See the article on EVinfo.net [SPONSORED]: https://lnkd.in/gGatn88H By implementing smart charging solutions, EV owners can benefit financially while turning their vehicles into vital assets for the grid. These systems ensure that drivers charge their vehicles at the most advantageous times—when energy is plentiful, renewable sources are generating efficiently, and the grid is under less pressure. With coordinated charging strategies, drivers help sustain the grid while maximizing their personal advantages. BluWave-ai’s innovative EV Everywhere platform offers a solution to some of the most pressing challenges in EV charging and grid management. By intelligently managing energy flow at the substation and transformer levels, the platform reduces congestion and boosts overall grid efficiency. Additionally, EV Everywhere makes it easier for system operators to integrate renewable energy, aligning EV charging schedules with the fluctuating availability of wind and solar power. In November 2024, BluWave-ai marked a significant achievement by completing Canada’s first AI-powered demand response events using a managed network of connected EVs. This took place in the third quarter of 2024 at Hydro Ottawa, a partnership first announced in April 2022. To raise awareness and expand its reach, BluWave-ai is launching the EV Everywhere app in January 2025, alongside a targeted marketing campaign and sweepstakes across select cities in Canada, Ontario and Prince Edward Island. This initiative is part of the company’s plan to broaden its platform’s availability throughout Canada and the U.S. in 2025. At the upcoming EV Charging Infrastructure Summit North America East on January 29, 2025, BluWave-ai's Senior Product Manager Chris Galbraith will present on “EVs as Grid Flexibility Assets: Real-World Insights on Capacity and Market Participation.” The event is sponsored by Smart Grid Observer. EVinfo.net strongly recommends BluWave-ai’s EV Everywhere as a groundbreaking advancement in energy management technology. We were so busy wrapping up lose ends for projects and upcoming campaigns that we had to wait until after Christmas to reach out out to our network (and frankly most of you have better things to do before Dec 25 than be bothered by another company sending wishes). So as we move towards 2025, some thoughts from our team to our network: Can we do each job with less energy? For the already minimized amount of energy can it be sources from non carbon emitting sources? Can I move my energy use to when there is less gas/coal/oil based energy on the grid? Do I have the data to understand how we use energy in our enterprise and if so, how can I leverage it better Can we be kinder to those who are less fortunate than us, or who for the moment are in positions of less influence in society ? What can I do to be better for the planet in 2025 Of course, BluWave-ai would like to help, but today is not the moment to inundate you with marketing about our company, rather a moment to pause to think about how each of us (all 8B of us) can help improve the path we are on for the next generations after us. Along the way, we hope you can lean on our team and get projects rolling together in 2025. From our home base in Ottawa Canada, the nation's capital where we actually have a decent amount of snow on the ground (which is normal for us compared to the last two years when it was not white on the ground), we would like to wish you a wonderful holiday and a great year in 2025 #ai #renewables

During our recent #GlobalEnergyTransitionSummit panel discussion with leaders from Ontario’s energy ecosystem, we walked down memory lane and pondered upon how energy systems have evolved, from heavy reliance on fossil fuels to the ongoing shift toward cleaner with the increased energy demand, driven by electrification mainly. The growing energy demand and focus on renewable energy is at the heart of this transition. The challenge? Solar and wind power, while abundant are intermittent—solar energy isn’t always available, and wind is not always blowing. When and how much could be generated remains guesswork. Over 1 GW of new solar energy is being installed daily worldwide, but the question remains: how do we scale these sources to meet demand and make them available and reliable? We need smart ways to store energy when it's abundant and cheap and use it strategically when required like during peak demand times. Energy Storage is emerging as a crucial tool for managing both energy supply and demand at all times. Acting as non-wire alternatives (NWAs) to help smooth out those fluctuations and make the renewable energy supply consistent and reliable. But here's the catch- most battery energy storage systems (BESS) use basic software that does basic stuff during charging and discharging. What's missing? A deeper connection with the grid itself. Right now, battery operators don’t have visibility into real-time market conditions or upcoming renewable energy generation—they can’t see what’s coming up in the next few hours or even the next day. So, how can we expect them to act as a true grid asset if they don’t know what's coming? As we move towards smarter, more efficient energy management, AI and data technologies are key. Imagine if we could predict grid behavior the way we predict stock markets. If we could forecast when renewable energy would be abundant and when prices would fluctuate, we could enable these batteries to offer more value in an optimized and automated way. AI-enabled prediction will help us manage energy more intelligently, optimize storage systems, and support a more reliable, renewable-powered grid. It’s a fascinating time for energy, and AI might just be the key to making it all work more seamlessly. Watch the recording of our panel discussion here for a full overview: https://lnkd.in/ecC4WCTn
