There are so many reasons why investing in climate adaptation is crucial, not least the costs that investment can save. In fact, for every $1 spent on climate adaptation, up to $15 in future costs can be saved. That’s why Natural Resources Canada is investing $1.43 million in the Port of Vancouver Climate Adaptation Planning Project—a $2.82 million initiative to safeguard one of Canada’s busiest trade hubs from climate risks like rising sea levels and extreme weather. Backed by DP World’s support, this project will identify key actions to protect port infrastructure, regional supply chains, and neighboring communities. It’s a powerful example of how public-private partnerships can future-proof critical infrastructure and demonstrate leadership in climate resilience. #DPWorldAmericas #Logistics #SupplyChain

CSL is proud to partner with H.R. Doornekamp and HOPA in supporting the Randle Reef Contaminated Sediment Remediation project. Over the course of six shipments, our Trillium Class self-unloading vessel, MV Baie Comeau, delivered 150,000 metric tonnes of stone to the site, aiding in efforts to permanently isolate contaminants. Once completed, the project will significantly enhance water quality, improve fish and wildlife habitats, and contribute to regional economic development and quality of life. A big thank you to the crew on board MV Baie Comeau and our shoreside teams for their dedication and efforts in executing this exciting project safely and efficiently! We’re back with another edition of our Cargo Spotlight! 🏭🏗 Today’s focus is the most recent shipment of steel railtrack received here at Keefer Terminal. After discharging this rail from the MV Onego Neva, our stevedoring partners at Logistec took advantage of Keefer’s extensive laydown areas, keeping the rail accessible but safely stored in-place - and still with space to spare, at that! Since 1962, Keefer Terminal has remained an ever-vital transmodal hub connecting Eastern Canada to Western Canada and Thunder Bay to the rest of the world. The pieces of rail you see here will continue to make their way out of Keefer Terminal via flatcar to the West, supporting the expansion and maintenance of Canada’s integral railway infrastructure and bolstering efforts related to economic prosperity. From sail to rail, all modes lead to Thunder Bay! ⚓

Canada's port authorities have identified about $10 billion in known infrastructure projects alone planned by CPAs through 2040, out of the $110 billion sea port infrastructure deficit identified by the National Supply Chain Task Force over 50 years. But how much of that infrastructure will be paid for is an open question, given restrictions Canada's port authorities currently face in their ability to self-fund infrastructure. This is why Canada's port authorities are calling for modernization of the port authority model to allow for more flexible borrowing options, greater creativity in how they can generate revenue to fund infrastructure and a continued role for the federal government in funding essential trade infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/ee3fjD2N
