Thank you Goran and Samuel Group D.C. for hosting such an insightful webinar. We appreciated and valued the timely discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing the aerospace and defence sector in Atlantic Canada.
Thank you to everyone who joined yesterday’s members-only Webinar, co-hosted by ACADA - Atlantic Canada Aerospace & Defence Association and our defense experts from Samuel Group D.C. office. It was a pleasure to discuss the key challenges and opportunities shaping Canada’s defense, aerospace, marine, and technology sectors. Our conversation provided timely insights into how the incoming Trump Administration could influence Canadian government and business interests, particularly within Atlantic Canada. Key topics included: 🔺Trade and Export Challenges: The impact of “America First” policies on Canadian industries. 🔺Bilateral Defence Collaboration: Modernizing NORAD and strengthening Arctic and maritime security partnerships. 🔺Market Access and Regulations: Navigating procurement policies and export controls. 🔺Maritime Security: Exploring U.S. shipbuilding and technology collaborations. 🔺Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies: Identifying opportunities for innovation in Atlantic Canada. Strategic questions for Atlantic Canada’s industries were also explored, including U.S. defense spending priorities, geopolitical tensions, workforce development, and Canada’s NATO 2% (soon to be 3%) commitments. A recording of the Webinar will soon be available to ACADA members. In the meantime, I extend my thanks to ACADA CEO, Victoria Belbin M.M.S, ICD.D, for her outstanding support in co-organizing this event. And big thanks to our U.S. defense experts Leonard Kosinski, Lt General, U.S. Air Force (Ret) and Shawn Barnes as well as moderator Tasha Kheiriddin and the Hon. Jamie Baillie. We look forward to continuing these critical conversations in 2025 in partnership with ACADA.
