ABCO is joining the Electric Revolution! With the support of ACOA - APECA, we have launched our first fully electric commercial boat. The 32-foot former police patrol boat was salvaged, recycled, and refurbished, demonstrating the resilience of aluminum as a material for a circular marine economy and further enhanced by the electric propulsion system powered by the Evoy Hurricane inboard platform. The Hurricane is a 300kW (400HP equivalent) inboard motor with the ability to hit 600kW (800HP equivalent) at peak output. The combination of aluminum manufacturing and electric propulsion yields a robust, low-maintenance boat that will save owner’s money and hold its value all while reducing the impact of commercial vessels on the environment. This demonstration is the first phase of the Lunenburg Electric Harbour initiative that ABCO and BlueGrid Rimot are executing to showcase the benefits of marine electrification. Stay tuned for more updates! #eBoats #Electric #Decarbonized #EmissionFree #Boats

100% electric, made right here! I’d seen pictures, read articles, and heard Jason Huskilson proudly speak to it, but it was on our dingy ride around the harbour that I’d meandered past ABCO Industries Inc. in Lunenburg, where their 100% electric boat was tied alongside their wharf. Pretty impressive, and with so much potential on the horizon. The fastest of its kind on the market - and it’s been developed right here in Luneneburg. Moored in Lunenburg for a night last week, it reiterated for me again the importance of the sea in our regional economy. From super yachts, mingling in and among the Bluenose II and Picton Castle, the Coastguard coming/going, as well as the Adam’s and Knickle fleet - it’s impressive, especially from the water. The new Marina created by the Lunenburg Shipyard is a welcomed addition as well. And while you can’t ’hear’ it, wafting in the background when I snapped this picture was a very loud and happy crowd at Lightship Brewery singing along to a Fleetwood Mac cover band! And all of this is right here in my backyard, a mere 20 min drive away from the Town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia ! This piece from ACOA - APECA about ABCO’s innovation offers some great insights about their 100% electric boat: https://lnkd.in/gHFvE3Dx #maderighthere Invest Nova Scotia Town of Lunenburg NS #electricboat #abco

Leading the charge: ABCO Industries Inc. , in partnership with BlueGrid and #Evoy, have transformed a diesel engine boat into a 100% electric, emissions-free vessel. The other impressive part? It doesn’t just use electricity; it stores it and can feed it back to the grid when needed, creating a new revenue stream for boat owners and easing the strain on electrical grids. This is one way #MaritimeInnovation is helping lower carbon emissions and reach net zero goals. Read more: https://ow.ly/ECMn50Srf6c #InnovationHappensHere

ABCO Industries had the wonderful opportunity to connect with Adria Jover of the International Marine Association through our participation in the H2O conference and Wind to Wake workshop held by Oceans North.
As part of the H2O conference by Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia (OTCNS) in Halifax, Canada, I had the privilege of attending a dynamic and productive workshop led by Oceans North (special thanks to Andrew Boswell and Brent Dancey). The workshop brought together high-profile private and government bodies to discuss marine electrification within Canada, including topics like vessel-to-grid (V2G) technology and smart grids. Notable attendees included Sue Molloy, PhD, PEng, FCAE, Rob Crutcher, Craig Hall, Dan Turner and Marcelino Alvarez, among many others. In summary: there's a pressing need for (higher) incentives and standardized protocols. The urgency to electrify fishing fleets is evident, yet the lack of infrastructure. While the technology exists, it's all one boat and one certification at a time. And time is upon them, upon us. IEMA is here to help! Bonus: an amazing experience to witness the first high-power vessel-to-grid (V2G) demonstration globally. This showcased a remarkable collaboration between BlueGrid for grid-integration intelligence, Evoy as a global market leader in high-output electric motor systems, and ABCO Industries Inc., as the aluminum boat manufacturer. Halifax boasts an incredible natural harbor, a rich history, and a vibrant maritime community (SailGP new fav spot?). It's no surprise that the city is a focal point for maritime decarbonization strategies and the blue economy. First time in Halifax, and it won't be my last! #IEMA #Halifax #decarbonization #electricboats

It was a pleasure having Kendra out on our fully electric workboat for a demonstration of how ABCO Industries is quickly advancing the state of marine electrification in Atlantic Canada. Thanks for joining us!
It’s #worldoceanday! A time to reflect and celebrate the important role of the ocean and to recognize the need for urgent action for a healthier ocean and planet. I am lucky to be able to live near the ocean and thankful for a role that allows me to see amazing solutions being developed to make our ocean sectors more sustainable! Always inspiring when the Canada's Ocean Supercluster team gets together like we did last week in Halifax in conjunction with #H2O and #COVEDemoDay, an amazing team committed to Canada’s ocean economy! A memorable world ocean week! Also thankful that the fog has left SJS so I could spend the day with my family! Jeanette Jackson 🌱 Kes Morton PhD, PMP Trevor Hennigar Susan Hunt Colin Ross
