The H-1B Visa Delusion and Why It's Time to Rethink the "American Dream"
Let’s talk about the H-1B visa and all the drama we have been hearing from people like Elon, Vivek and Bernnie here.
If you think companies are using it as a "money-saving" move, you’re missing the bigger picture and you're just wrong.
The truth is, companies have been hiring globally for years—and doing it far cheaper. Hiring remotely from Latin America, Asia, or Africa can cost up to 75% less than sponsoring an H-1B visa and paying U.S.-level salaries.
But here’s the kicker—and this might sting for some Americans:
The American Dream is dead.
The new dream isn’t about moving to the U.S. It’s about earning U.S. dollars and living in an emerging economy like Colombia, where I live.
Let’s face it: an H-1B visa might feel like a win for candidates, but is it really?
Moving to the U.S. often means stepping into a high-cost reality where $200,000 a year barely lets you break even and might even get set on fire on a Subway. Even better if you do become a successful CEO who knows you might get murdered in cold blood just like the United Health Care CEo.
does that sting? both atrocities happened like last week.
Now I get it if you're Hamas, Islamic brotherhood or Isis their is no better time to get your H1-B visa heck you might even get a full-time to Harvard or Yale and if you’re a male landing a terrorist supporting wife wouldn't take long....
Why uproot your life, face immigration hurdles, and move to a place where you’re financially strapped, when you could stay in your home country, work remotely, and thrive?
This isn't just a reflection on individual choices—it's a wake-up call to the global workforce.
Remote work is the future, and the playing field is leveling.
The smartest move isn’t chasing the American Dream; it’s creating a dream where you are.
What do you think?
Are we ready to move past outdated ideas and embrace a global workforce mindset?
Let’s discuss.
