A replicable participatory research model by Izni Zahidi (DEng, MIEM, PEng), Yau Mun Ee, Alex Lechner, and Karen Thivya Lourdes, PhD offers a promising approach. This framework is designed to map social values of flood-prone land use in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia. It enables decision makers to make better and more integrated decisions about flood mitigation and prioritising investments. In Issue 03 of the #CodeGreen newsletter "GeoAI meets Climate Action", we lay out how the use of #GeoAI has the potential to establish reliable systems of disaster response and management in #Asia, a region characterised by extreme weather events, critical infrastructure disparities, and inadequate access to appropriate early warning systems. Worryingly, by 2050, the ocean could hold more plastic particles than fish! A key driver of this plastic crisis is the food packaging industry, which dumps about 269,000 tons of waste into our oceans every year. The latest report by DealStreetAsia - DATA VANTAGE is out. For the first time in nearly a decade, private funding for Southeast Asia's #ClimateTech startups has contracted, with both deal count and funds raised shrinking in the first 11 months of 2024 📉 Our Founding Partner, Tien Nguyen, pointed out the root causes: limited groundbreaking innovations, slow market adoption and the region's underdeveloped liquidity markets.
