"Good evening, this is your captain speaking." No, that was not how Jose J. Rodriguez, the chief pilot of National Airlines, began our conversation on the appointed date and time, following meticulous preparation for the interview. This is something very typical of an experienced and thoroughly professional pilot. I consider it extremely worthwhile to pursue the story of Capt. Rodriguez, and I am glad we have his story here for everyone to read. While we were preparing for the story and planning the call, it never came to mind that I had met him at the Dubai Creek Golf Club in July 2024, along with a few other friends from National. In fact, at The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) #AirCargoForum in Miami in November 2024, he had come into the exhibition hall and attended the well-organized National party on one of the ACF evenings.
