India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), in collaboration with AROI and other key stakeholders from the radio broadcasting ecosystem, hosted an engaging panel discussion on “Digital Radio – Opportunities and Challenges in Rollout” during its recent conference. The discussion, moderated by Mr. Ramashish Ray (CEO, Centre of Excellence Noida), centered around the opportunities and challenges of transitioning from analog to digital radio in the country. Experts emphasized the need for technological advancements, policy reforms, and industry collaboration to fast-track the adoption of this new technology by developing devices enabled with HD-Radio like Bluetooth speakers and mobile phones. Key topics included enhancing spectrum availability, streamlining licensing processes, and increasing consumer awareness to ensure a seamless shift from analog to digital systems. This event brought together leaders and visionaries from the entire radio broadcasting ecosystem – including radio operators, equipment manufacturers, technology providers, and device manufacturers – to discuss the transformation of India's radio broadcasting landscape as it embarks on the digital journey. The conference was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Shri Sanjiv Shankar, Joint Secretary, MIB and Mr. Uday Chawla, Secretary General of AROI. The Conference showcased the strong consensus among industry leaders on the need to fast-track the adoption of digital radio.
