Transforming Menstrual Hygiene: Insights from the 4th MHM India Summit 2024
It was an honour for Pinkishe Foundation to participate in the 4th @Menstrual Hygiene Management India Summit 2024, organized by Gramalaya Sanitation NGO at the iconic Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. This transformative gathering brought together over 200 delegates and 50 speakers from diverse sectors, all united by a shared vision of empowering women and girls through menstrual health equity.
I had the privilege of representing Pinkishe Foundation in a plenary session titled "Role of CSR Initiatives and Startups in Accelerating MHM Initiatives." During my address, I highlighted the urgent need to address the gap in CSR funding for Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM). Without adequate investment, research stagnates, scalable solutions remain limited, and millions of girls are left without access to basic menstrual hygiene resources.
The summit was much more than a conversation—it was a call to action. Interactive sessions explored themes such as combating period poverty, promoting eco-friendly menstrual products, and breaking taboos around menstruation. Visionary leaders like Arundati Muralidharan, Geeta Solanki, and Vikas Bagaria shared insights that inspired actionable ideas. There was a special focus on educating adolescents and encouraging sustainable practices to reduce plastic waste.
Gramalaya deserves immense appreciation for curating such a meaningful platform. This summit amplified awareness and renewed our collective commitment to menstrual hygiene advocacy.
The summit concluded with a shared vision of a future where menstrual hygiene is recognized as a fundamental right, not a privilege. Leaders like Hon’ble Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati, Padma Shri Awardee Mr Sairam Damodaran, and Mr Ravi B. inspired attendees with their unwavering commitment to this cause.
This summit underscored the power of collaboration and collective will. Together, we can challenge deeply rooted stigmas, drive systemic change, and ensure menstrual health and hygiene for every woman and girl. Let us carry forward this momentum and continue working together for impact.
A heartfelt thank you to Gramalaya and all the contributors who made this event impactful. While I’d love to mention everyone who contributed to the summit, the sheer volume of impactful voices makes that impossible. Tagging a few changemakers to continue the dialogue: Subhojit Bakshi (He / Him), Nandini Sultania, Dr. Pranita Ghalay, Santosh Gupta, Anika Malik Wadhera, Rajasi Kulkarni Diwakar, Niraj Gera, Anushree Dash, and Dr. Sania Siddiqui.
