Need a more reliable source than an unknown Telegram channel. For news about the change of the flag, a link from the website of the gov.ru domain or some resolution, council decision, etc. would be a perfect source. Keneris (talk) 19:39, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Telegram channel "Русская геральдика" https://vk.com/rus_gerald, https://руни.рф/index.php/Флаг_Запорожской_области Куку Кукуевичъ (talk) 02:45, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This telegram channel and page on VK of unknown found not reliable source. Руни.рф it is a project that is based on the fact that anyone can edit it (like Wikipedia), but Wikipedia and any wiki that everyone can edit cannot be a reliable source. Keneris (talk) 09:57, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Where is your source for this flag? Куку Кукуевичъ (talk) 10:42, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This flag was used at annexation ceremony, video of that was shown on government website kremlin.ru: .
And the coat of arms that is used on this flag is used in the official document "Proposal on the admission of the Zaporozhye region to the Russian Federation as a new subject." . Keneris (talk) 16:47, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File:Wagner Revolt map.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Shades

[edit]

Regarding the shades, that is the official specification (DSTU 4512:2006), not my liking. One can see on this official photo for example that blue of the flag is the same as the current national shades which are specified by DSTU 4512:2006. The raspberry is the closest Pantone shade because DSTU 4512:2006 is described with Pantone. The webpage you referred to does not describe the exact shade (unlike DSTU 4512:200) and only contains some low-resolution GIFs. Look for example what shades are used for the Navy flag: https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/laws/file/imgs/58/p205943n147-11.gif Those are not the official Pantone 2935 C & Pantone 012 as you can see.

Ιγκόρ (talk) 14:05, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Really more compelling arguments. But, the flag is out of focus there. Also, the DSTU does not regulate the raspberry colour. I found a photo with more clearly visible flags https://www.mil.gov.ua/news/2023/07/18/ramshtajn-14-prodemonstruvav-nepohitnu-pidtrimku-ukraini-nashimi-partnerami---oleksij-reznikov/ In this photo, the wide pipette produced the following results: Flag of Ukraine Blue: #0053B5 (very close to official #0057B8) Flags of Military blue: #182683 (but on official logo from https://www.mil.gov.ua is #2A3D8C). Raspberry of flags: #E33257 (but the official logo on the website is #D00077). What follows is that this insignia does not match the national colours of the flag. Blue on military flags is darker, and with crimson is a real problem, as the pipette on IRL images it gives one, and the Ministry of Defence in digital gives a noticeable discernible colour. Ιγκόρ (talk) 19:00, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In the penultimate photo, with a 3x3 pipette, I was able to capture the colour #133B74. Raspberry on that photo is #C4344F However, the Defence Ministry website File:Mil.gov.ua logo.svg clearly uses some kind of between burgundy and aubergine colour (#D40076) in the main logo in a high resolution svg file. Also, you can see a gradient there between a colour similar to the colour of the Ukrainian flag in the DSTU (#0958A4) and a darker colour (#263886), which is similar to the colour from the Presidential Decree (#1C2154). In addition, there is a website https://www.zsu.gov.ua, https://www.zsu.gov.ua/static/media/logo.6e30dfd3.png where there is also a slight gradient with dark blue (#200C61) and raspberry is #C60068 and there is also https://www.zsu.gov.ua/image/Без%20названия-1609307735.png, https://www.zsu.gov.ua/image/Без%20названия%20(4)-1609307744.png and https://www.zsu.gov.ua/image/Без%20названия%20(3)-1609307762.png with #D60664 raspberry that is similar to the colour of the Defence Ministry (#D40076). It all seems to come down to this color. Keneris (talk) 07:40, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I've noticed that you'd made some changes to the colors of the Ukrainian regional flags recently. The color of the flag of the Donetsk Region is light-blue, not deep blue as the current shade of the national flag. Even on the photos you provided it is visible that the blue of the regional flag isn't as dark as the one of the national flag next to it. Regarding the military flag, it's clearly that it's darker in most cases that that official photo of General Zaluzhnyi which I initially used as the point of references (see the gallery above). So, since the official specs hasn't been published I will use the closest web-safe color which is #903. – Ιγκόρ (talk) 11:05, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! According to the photo [1] it is so, because the blue on the Donetsk regional flag is 3399FF, and on the Ukrainian flag is approximately 0159BA. By eye, the variant proposed by me more corresponds to the real photo. On military crimson flags: I found that chevron, on it the raspberry is closer to B30053 and this photo, where the colour varies from B72840 to C12E44 because of the lighting, is actually closer to 903 in my opinion, but not perfect because it's darker. Keneris 18:39, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, not perfect, but it's better than what was before. Hopefully, the official specs would be released eventually because now it's a mess. Different branches use different shades. – Ιγκόρ (talk) 07:58, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

[edit]
2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
