Samuel "Midday" He (born December 27, 1994) is a Canadian Zerg player who last played for compLexity Gaming.
He had no RTS experience prior to StarCraft II, and started playing in mid June 2011. He went from Bronze level to Diamond within the time period of a month and a half, then gradually Master, and finally Grandmaster league.[Citation needed] He is a consistent top contender in Canadian tournaments and LANs, and has been featured on CTV's Gamer's. [Citation needed]
Biography[edit]
Samuel He is a progamer from Canada. His alias "Midday" is a tribute to his friend who taught him critical thinking and debate, who carried the same alias, but lost touch with later on. He is ethnically Chinese. Although he was accepted to Rutgers University's honors college to study theoretical physics, he will stay with the University of Victoria to pursue a career in clarinet performance. He is reputed as Alberta's strongest Zerg player.[Citation needed]
Career[edit]
On 30 March 2013, Midday joined Team Fallacy, and later on left to join the CompLexity Gaming Academy on 7 May 2013.[1][2]
Shortly after the CompLexity Gaming Academy disbanded, Midday was announced to be a part of the main Starcraft roster of compLexity Gaming alongside Drunkenboi, KoMA, Moosegills, and DeathEnD.[3]
Midday participated in The Breakout Invitational 3 where he advanced out of Group B by defeating KiF1rE and Kelazhur. Midday faced Intense in the playoffs where he lost 1-3.
In the IEM Season IX - Toronto/Chinese Qualifier, Midday defeated Ein and fishleong to qualify for Stage 2 of the qualifier. Midday could not play in Stage 2 as he was traveling within China and was replaced by fishleong.
Midday took first place at Gottacon 2015 after beating ElhayM in the finals.[4]
Midday participated in the 2019 Tespa Collegiate Series with the University of British Columbia and finished second place. Beating out the University of Toronto the Ro16, University of Southern California in the Ro8, University of Texas at Austin in the Ro4, and losing 3-4 to the University of Manitoba in the finals.[5]
In 2021, Midday won a US$10,000 esports scholarship + apprenticeship sponsored by the Association of Pacific Rim Universities and YESports Hong Kong Esports group.[6]
