Community Guidelines

In the BabyCenter Community, we believe in free and open discussion on a wide variety of parenting topics. However, we remove content when it poses a personal threat to our users or otherwise contributes to a hostile environment that stifles parent-to-parent support and can threaten the health of our broader community. We do not tolerate racism, discrimination, and medical misinformation. The BabyCenter Community is for support and collaboration, not confrontation.

Our Philosophy: Every Parent Is Unique

BabyCenter welcomes everyone, no matter what stage of the parenting journey you are on. From deciding to try, to taking the test; from babies loved and lost to babies learning to crawl and walk; from preschool to grade-school; from the tween years to the teen years and beyond, every member on BabyCenter has the right to share the story of his or her unique parenting journey.

Our community is a place of personal free expression, where we value an honest and supportive exchange of ideas and experiences. We encourage celebration of the journey of parenting through sharing of photos and posts in groups and Birth Clubs.

Safety First: Responsibility Starts With You

Please remember that everything you read in our community areas comes from other members. BabyCenter doesn't monitor or verify the information posted by our members. We rely on you to keep us informed of violations.

The information posted on our groups, including advice and opinions related to medical matters, is the responsibility of the members who create the posts. Read more about responsibilities, and potential harm to you and your children arising from user posts.

The Rules: No Racism, Discrimination, Medical Misinformation & More

In order to keep this a place where differences in philosophies, beliefs, opinions, and parenting styles are welcomed please help us by following these simple rules.

  1. Personal attacks are unacceptable.
  2. Racism, communalism, casteism and hate-speech is not permitted. Attacks on someone's sexual orientation or gender identity are not allowed.
  3. Do not deliberately disrupt the community.
  4. Bullying, trolling or harassment will not be tolerated.
  5. Illegal activity is not allowed on the site.
  6. X-rated content is not allowed.
  7. This forum is open for giving and getting feedback on various aspects related to parenting. We understand that you may like to share your views and experiences regarding products, services, doctors and hospitals. Your feedback is valuable and may be helpful to other members. However, please refrain from using abusive language, or specifically targeting or promoting a person, establishment, service or brand. We reserve the right to remove posts we feel are offensive or that target or promote the business interests of any institution, service, brand or medical practitioner.
  8. Don’t solicit or reveal personal information or private content – yours or theirs.
  9. No soliciting or SPAM. Please don't post any advertising, promotional materials, junkmail, "spam," chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of solicitation on the forums.
  10. Please don't use any community areas to solicit for goods, services, or money, or to advertise or sell products or services to others.
  11. Please do not transfer issues or posts from one group to another. Don't quote someone else's post from another group without that person's permission. A lot of misunderstanding and hurt can ensue when a post from one place is taken out of context and shared with others. Please don't direct people to controversial or problematic threads in other groups.
  12. Please don't solicit subjects for interviews or participants for studies without the permission of the Community Manager.
  13. Soliciting for adoptable children or an adoptive family or surrogates and donors for egg/sperm is not allowed on BabyCenter in any area. There are many safe and reputable places to make arrangements for these services; however, BabyCenter is not designed to be that sort of resource

Note: Please bear in mind that what you read in our community areas is other users' opinions and stories. Mentioning Other Websites

It's perfectly okay to mention, link to, or discuss other websites that are of interest to our users, as long as they don't violate our other guidelines. But please don't use our community to generate traffic for another pregnancy, baby, or parenting website or community. This goes against basic "etiquette". We'll delete posts that, in our judgment, mention or link to our competitors for the sole purpose of encouraging our users to participate elsewhere.
