La Puente woman killed in a car crash involving wrong-way driver in Mecca on Friday
MECCA - A 51-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Mecca involving a wrong-way driver that also left two people with moderate injuries, authorities said. The crash was reported at approximately 9 p.m. Friday on Highway 86 near 66th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers said a black Chrysler was driving on the wrong side of the highway when it collided with a white Honda Civic, killing the Honda's driver. The 20-year-old male driver of the Chrysler was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and his 18-year-old female passenger was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to KESQ. The driver was also slightly injured. The Riverside County coroner's office identified the victim who died Saturday as Shuru Zhang of La Puente. The cause of the crash was under investigation by the CHP. SACRAMENTO, California ( MyCaliforniaNews ) - Ronald Yandell, 62, of Pinole, and William Sylvester, 56, of Norco, have been sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for murder in aid of racketeering and other RICO-related crimes. The sentences were handed down by U.S. District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller, according to United States Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.
