Toward Next-generation Volumetric Video Streaming with Neural-based Content Representations
Striking a balance between minimizing bandwidth consumption and maintaining high visual quality stands as the paramount objective in volumetric content delivery. However, achieving this ambitious target is a substantial challenge, especially for ...
FAST: Fast and Accurate Adaptation in Live Video Analytics Using Intermediate Features
Live video analytics need to adapt the optimal configuration to achieve the requirements for various videos of environments. Prior works for adaptation suffer from the accuracy drop due to the large overhead and incorrect estimation. We present FAST, ...
Preserving High Quality in A Learning-based Compression Model for Point Cloud Videos
High-resolution point cloud videos combined with 3D scenes can create creative viewing modes. However, their enormous data volume demands effective compression techniques. In this work, we propose a deep learning-based model for compressing point ...
MagicCloth: Protect User Privacy in AR Streaming
With the growing number of users, Augmented Reality (AR) privacy issues have aroused researchers' concerns. Our work focuses on the protection of privacy-sensitive objects in indoor settings. We proposed a novel privacy protection mechanism MagicCloth ...
Invisible Textures: Comparing Machine and Human Perception of Environment Texture for AR
Mobile augmented reality (AR) has a wide range of promising applications, but its efficacy is subject to the impact of environment texture on both machine and human perception. Performance of the machine perception algorithm underlying accurate ...
Toward Scalable and Controllable AR Experimentation
To understand how well a proposed augmented reality (AR) solution works, existing papers often conducted tailored and isolated evaluations for specific AR tasks, e.g., depth or lighting estimation, and compared them to easy-to-setup baselines, either ...
A Comparative Analysis of Genetic Algorithm and Ant Colony Optimization for Mobile Augmented Reality Offloading
Mobile augmented reality (MAR) systems typically offload computation-intensive tasks to edge servers. This paper contributes a comparative analysis of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) in task offloading optimization for MAR on ...
VCRS: A Novel Approach to Virtual Reality Cycling for Balance Rehabilitation
This paper presents the hardware and software design of Virtual Cycling Rehab System (VCRS), a novel and affordable system for balance rehabilitation via virtual reality (VR). The system integrates real-time sensor communication with an Oculus Quest-...
Multi-modal pose estimation in XR applications leveraging integrated sensing and communication
Mobile extended reality (XR) applications are anticipated to generate substantial traffic for 6G. Such applications not only require high data rate and low-latency transmissions, but also accurate and real-time pose estimation to enable interactive ...
Environment-driven mmWave Beamforming for Multi-user Immersive Applications
This position paper explores the challenges and opportunities for high-quality immersive volumetric video streaming for multiple users over millimeter-wave (mmWave) WLANs. While most of the previous work has focused on single-user streaming, there is ...
