Developing World-Class Cybersecurity Leaders
About us
Cyber security leaders need both technical knowledge and management skills to gain the respect of technical team members, understand what technical staff are actually doing, and appropriately plan and manage security projects and initiatives. This is a big and important job that requires an understanding of a wide array of security topics. The SANS Cybersecurity Leadership Curriculum, through world-class training and GIAC Certifications, develops cyber leaders who have the practical skills to build and lead security teams, communicate with technical and business leaders alike, and develop capabilities that build your organization's success. We teach how to lead security initiatives to manage information risk while aligning security with overall business strategy. We help you align communications and actions from the technical team up to the Board, while managing human risk across the entire organization. Decrease your technical spend while increasing your overall security posture by leading and managing your vulnerability management program, security operations centers, and human beings. GIAC's Leadership certifications confirm the practical skills to build and lead security teams, communicate with both technical teams and business leaders, and develop capabilities that strengthen your organization's security posture. "This is a fantastic introduction to all the areas a CISO is responsible for in modern organizations. Excellent instruction, very engaging course structure, and a ton of valuable information." - Michael C., ABS Global Training Ltd. Learn more about our courses at https://www.sans.org/u/1hFG

SANS Security Leadership reposted this
Remember when I said I didn’t think 2024 couldn’t get any better for #LDR553 the #SANS Cyber Incident Management course; well here’s the icing on the cake: Just 12 months after the first production run of the 5-day course in Jan this year, I’m elated to announce we have a certification for the course! 🥳 GIAC Certified Incident Leader (#GCIL) is available for pre-purchase. (https://lnkd.in/e7fK-tVg) Thank you to everyone that has supported the course this InPerson, LiveOnline and OnDemand; your commitment and trust in me to show you some of the skills and techniques to scope, plan and remediate cyber compromises is humbling. I’m told the exams go live on 15th Feb 2025 yes I’ve signed up too - no pressure eh 😳. This new cert comes hot on the heels of #LDR553 being included in the new Cyber Risk Officer Triad (https://lnkd.in/exeYGig7). Thus, if you complete #LDR553 along with #LDR519 (Cybersecurity Risk Management and Compliance) and #LDR512 (Security Leadership Essentials for Managers) you will be awarded the Cyber Risk Officer Triad Coin. However, more than that, you will be better prepared to face the challenges levelled at CISOs and Senior Cyber Professionals. I think these two announcements, and the commitment they represent from SANS, show how important Cyber Incident Management is to the defence of our networks and way of life. As this is probably my last post of 2024, I’d like to thank a bunch of folk who over the last 3 years have help me get LDR553 (& #MGT553) from a dream into the classroom: Andy Woolhead for spotting the opportunity & grabbing me to develop the course. Frank Kim and Dennis Scandrett for ‘encouraging’ me to actually meet my deadlines 😂 . Eric Hoy and Karen Hertan for supporting my courseware QA and OnDemand recordings. Lara Dawson, Lauren Ashy and Brian Correia for their planning, webcast and marketing support. At my “regular” job, I’m endlessly inspired and encouraged by: Lance McGrath who effortlessly shows how great leadership is executed. I’m grateful for his insight, focus and the flexibility to pursue my teaching goals (plus, I love that you post on LinkedIn more than I do! 🤣). Giedre Tijusaite who hands down is the best boss I have ever worked for #fact. The SIRT at Danske Bank you are the best! I love your passion, drive & technical cunning as well as your acceptance of my zany ideas & Friday HotSeats exercises! Thanks also to Natasha Armstrong-Godwin and my family for accepting my being away teaching or sitting in the office for months ‘doing slides’. Thanks to Matt Winningham for being #IR4U Matt 🤣 and Tasha, Emma Crowe & Travis Steagall for working with me during the irl version of the #4c3lion$ incident. Finally, thanks to you, the community, for your support over the years! I hope you all get some quality time with your families and those important to you.
