SANS Digital Forensics and Incident Response reposted this
And, the first public run in the US in 2025 will be in Baltimore in March. Join me. #FOR577
Cyber security incident response | Threat hunting | Digital forensics | Certified SANS instructor & course author | I am not looking for any new certification training...
The topic of timestamp manipulation in #Linux incidents came up in a discussion this morning, so I wanted to reshare an article from last year. This looks at the most common technique today, which really is just using the touch command or a variation (basically a call to `utimensat` and I have no idea why it doesn't generally modify nanosecond times). This means it has definite limitations and definite signatures you can detect during #dfir. If you want to know more about Linux IR then have a look at FOR577 (https://sans.org/for577), the Linux Incident Response course. This is available On Demand, Live Online and, for the best all round experience, in-person. If you are looking for something to do post-Christmas, you can attend the FOR577 class at SANS EMEA's London January Event (https://lnkd.in/exknPTZx) which will be a fun-packed experience! If you would like to know when it will run in your country, check out the website or reach out to SANS directly (or even ask me here and I can try to help!) #incidentresponse #cybersecurity #training #personaldevelopment #cyber #security #computers
