Enriching New Jersey Through Transportation
About us
The Local Aid Resource Center is a centralized source for information and your connection to a team of experts ready to guide you through the grant application process, assist you with project selection, or provide guidance for other technical needs. The Resource Center is a new statewide effort designed to serve the needs of the 21 counties and 565 local governments throughout the state. The center will fulfill the vision of Commissioner Gutierrez-Scaccetti to assist the local government community by guiding grant applications and the project delivery process while enhancing collaboration with the common goal of a connected and efficient transportation network. Since the launch of Commissioner’s Commitment to Communities initiative, the NJDOT has been building a team of experts and a place where our local government community can easily find the information, tools and resources they will need for success. The new Resource Center team is available to assist your community with project planning, project delivery, communications, grant application, guidance through the federal process, and much more. We have created a dedicated hotline to provide prompt responses to your questions and concerns. We maintain a social media presence for information sharing that promotes your successes and best practices.

Cheers to New Jersey - Somerset County for prioritizing safety on Main Street in Manville Borough! Federally funded by the Local Safety and High Risk Rural Program, the County added new ADA compliant curb ramps and sidewalks, curb extensions, median pedestrian islands, rectangular rapid flashing beacons, and lighting. Improvements also included reducing travel lanes to one lane in each direction, providing a center turn lane in each direction, replacing 6 traffic signals, and drainage improvements. #somersetcounty

One way to enhance safety at this location is... By adding Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs)! Crosswalks with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) attached to pedestrian warning signs are proven to be safer. 🚶♀️🚶♂️ RRFBs catch the attention of drivers and increase the chances of them yielding to pedestrians. #pedestriansafety #NJtrafficSafety

Rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) can make crosswalks and/or pedestrians more visible at a marked crosswalk! They flash with high frequency to alert drivers that a pedestrian is entering a crosswalk and can be activated by a pedestrian or automatically. #NJtrafficSafety #TransportationSafety
