As part of ITW’s commitment to environmental responsibility, we have established a target to achieve a 50% absolute reduction of Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, compared with a 2021 baseline. Our GHG emissions reduction strategy empowers our divisions to execute the programs and initiatives that provide meaningful impact for their business. The ITW Metal Fasteners team in Sabadell, Spain, identified an opportunity to improve the sustainability and energy efficiency of the facility through a heat recovery system, which was installed in 2023. Prior to the project’s implementation, the previous system consumed high amounts of electricity and diesel. With the new heat recovery system, heat is extracted from industrial furnaces, turning it into a comprehensive solution for heating and hot water supply. The improved system eliminates the need for diesel and bolsters the plant’s energy independence. The team anticipates the enhanced solution will save more than 670 megawatts of energy and reduce more than 110 metric tons carbon dioxide emissions per year. #ProudToBeITW
