A new era of military moving
Today, I’m thrilled to introduce HomeSafe Connect.
For years, our team has been developing this revolutionary product, and now it’s finally ready to launch.
HomeSafe Connect is the core technology platform powering the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC), a new government program designed to efficiently relocate over 300,000 military service members each year.
U.S. service members from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard, along with US Department of Defense civilians, will use the HomeSafe Connect platform. Our team is deeply honored and proud that our technology will serve military families around the world for many years to come.
What is HomeSafe Connect?
HomeSafe Connect is a groundbreaking software platform that simplifies and modernizes military moving. U.S. service members and military families will plan, manage, and track each step of their move in this easy-to-use platform, reducing stress and complexity with real-time visibility and control.
Features for military families include:
A helpful dashboard with all important move information;
Pre-move survey of household items over a live video call;
Real-time tracking of the moving crew en route to the home;
Electronic access to all move documentation;
A straightforward claims process with real-time updates and assistance
In addition, all HomeSafe Alliance industry service providers will receive a suite of technology products to organize and manage their military jobs.
Features for moving companies include:
Native mobile apps to barcode, scan, photograph, and track the location of all household goods throughout the move;
A collaborative order management platform;
Paperless, system-generated documentation;
Transparent and integrated claims system;
Real-time performance monitoring to ensure the highest quality customer service
This month, a small number of service members will begin using HomeSafe Connect for their moves.

An opportunity for major improvements
Military families move, on average, every 2.5 years. Historically, the moving experience for military families has been challenging.
In 2019 US Transportation Command introduced a new program to modernize military moving and deliver a better experience for military families.
The program aims to (a) materially increase on-time packing, shipping, and delivery of belongings, (b) introduce modern technology to improve communication, accountability and visibility, and (c) provide a faster and more transparent claims process when items are damaged.
In connection with the new program, the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC) appoints a single move manager to serve as the exclusive, worldwide manager for all 300,000+ global military moves each year.
Back in 2019, HomeSafe Alliance partnered with Updater to bid on the GHC. HomeSafe Alliance is a joint venture between KBR, Inc. and Tier One Relocation LLC. After a multi-year contracting process, in November 2021, HomeSafe Alliance was awarded the GHC. The contract is valued at approximately $20 billion over the potential 9.5-year term.
MoveHQ, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Updater, signed an exclusive subcontract with HomeSafe Alliance to deliver HomeSafe Connect, the critical software to power the new government program.
Updater and MoveHQ had been developing software solutions for both relocating consumers and industry service providers for many years, and our team was therefore uniquely positioned to help achieve the goals of the new government program.
A bright future for military moving
This week, HomeSafe Connect received the first Move Task Order (MTO) under the new government program, marking a significant milestone.
As for Updater and MoveHQ, we will continue to push the limits of innovation to improve the experience for service members, industry partners, and all key stakeholders.
I want to thank all those who worked tirelessly to plan and develop HomeSafe Connect, and I want to thank all those who supported our team at Updater and MoveHQ throughout this project. Thank you!
Exciting times ahead,
David
