Gearing Up for Global Accessibility Awareness Day
With Global Accessibility Awareness Day just around the corner, I’m excited to share some of our exciting new accessibility developments across LinkedIn!
- We heard your feedback and increased our alternative text character count from 300 to 1,000.
- We want to create equal opportunity for every member of the workforce. And aligned with that we recently released screen reader support articles that feature step-by-step guidance on how to update your LinkedIn profile using a wide range of screen readers and browsers.
- We’re adding accessibility specific industries within the experience section so our members can better represent the industry they work in - this includes Digital Accessibility Services, Accessible Architecture and Design, and Accessible Hardware Manufacturing.
- We have a number of collaborative articles specific to accessibility. You can see articles related to Accessibility and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and learn from experts who have, “been there done that,” in improving accessibility in their workplace and product offerings.
- Lastly, we’re also continuing to focus on accessible content in our LinkedIn Learning library. This March, we released an audio described version of our popular soft skills learning pathway - courses that help learners develop skills that hiring managers value most, from emotional intelligence and critical thinking to unconscious bias and teamwork. We also rolled out three new courses about accessibility and disability inclusion – check out this post from Dan Brodnitz to learn more.
Stay tuned for more accessibility updates!
Senior Scientist/Co-founder Inventor of "THE KNAPP PROCESS" [TM] at BIO-H2-GEN Inc. USA Patent targeting dissolved H2S to produce pure hydrogen
10moBIO-H2-GEN does NOT have a revenue source yet. That means I have to use our personal pension funds to keep our company working . We spend over 10 hours a day to convince anyone to see the advantage of our pure hydrogen gas that is now a USA patent. The international Patent Cooperation Treaty examiner characterized my technology as novel, inventive, and applicable worldwide. Your charges to me results in every month leading us to a possible end of keeping my technology from developing.
Special shout out to AccessIn and all Eng teams that work on making LI more accessible so we can increase economic opportunity for everyone, and to our very own Jennison Asuncion for co-founding GAAD a global movement to drive awareness around digital inclusion!
