If AAHKS is for surgeons and OMTEC for manufacturers, where's the conference for reps? It's not about the lack of a fancy venue, speaking opportunites or even an open bar. It's about what this gap represents: We've built an industry where the rep is expected to serve everyone else's needs while their own challenges remain largely unaddressed. The irony? These same reps are the backbone connecting manufacturers to surgeons, carrying both relationships and revenue on their shoulders. #orthopedics #medicaldevices #buildforreps"
I dont think thats an across the board thing .. AAHKS was a great meeting for reps /distributors I felt like .
Great insight into a gap that exists across specialties and leaves reps siloed.
Operations Executive
1moTry getting a conference for the operations teams in orthopedics. I went to a few of them around 2013-2015. They were hosted by the big ortho company I worked for. Marketing and Sales got skewered and crushed. The territories would commiserate about their daily struggles. It was a great place for us to grow and learn from eachother, I loved it and we got better and made connections that would be there for us and our reps in times of need. Like getting the last available total femur in the US put on a plane leaving in 2 hours and have it in hand in under 8. I didnt have territories willing to do this for me before making the connections. Corporate wasn't able to keep up with the issues that would be brought to light during these meetings and it became a nightmare for a big ortho company to have to figure out what kind of change orders needed to be put in place to fix all these issues we were all having. They decided to no longer do that and focus only on things within their control. A big reason why I think direct territories are making their way back to being distributorships. As a direct territory, you were now back under that umbrella of things they must have control over.
