Intern application season is officially upon us! As companies open their doors for bright-eyed, bushy tailed students that are ready to take on their career interest to a professionalized level, I would love to take the time to reflect on my summer as a Publicity intern at Paramount Pictures.
Working at a company like Paramount with a resume full of culture changing films was slightly intimidating initially. It was a huge culture shock in every way, but after adjusting I was able to really step into the experience waiting for me. Working on films like Transformers One, Gladiator 2, A Quiet Place 2, and more was such a cool experience to have from in-house POV. Learning the jigsaw puzzle that is scheduling for press tours, the skills that make PR run the way it is supposed to (overlap of creative marketing, event planning, presentation illustrations, etc.) and the usefulness of qualitative research collecting helped me gain a deeper understand of a publicist work in film. My favorite part about the summer was experiencing Paramount value the work myself and fellow interns did throughout the summer that made this movie season great. Being more than just a worker to cover "busy work" and actually have my opinions and ideas valued on such a large scale really gave me the confidence boost I didn't even think I needed. (I REALLY hope you guys loved BOTH popcorn buckets for Gladiator 2, I know I did 🤭 😉 !)
I say all this to say that this summer was a big learning experience to where I want to take my career post graduation ( Spring 2025, coming soon!!!) and evidence the kind of work I am able to do no matter the environment I am in. I am so grateful and thankful for Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program (EICOP) for letting me sit under their watchful and caring eyes for yet another summer. HBCU in LA will always be the top three best things to have ever happen to me!
So students, I hope this inspires you to put your application in like TODAY! Be ready to put your best foot forward and leave a lasting mark at these companies. And if Paramount is that desired company, applications are still open, but not forever! GO BE GREAT!
Oh, and go see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in theaters December 20. #TeamShadow ❤️ 🖤
Happy Friday! 🎉
We truly have the most fascinating people at LCP Media. One of my favorite things to learn about someone is WHY they do what they do -
Nick's story is nothing short of inspiring. His journey to loving software engineering started as a kid, inspired by his father and grandfather, who had computers in their office. He loved exploring the internet, playing video games, and got interested in learning code. By middle school, he was already building websites!
Nick also speaks multiple languages and started learning Polish during his internship with us. Did you know that about half of LCP Media is in Poland? (I still geek out when I have international calls; I am just a small-town girl from Texas—like, how AWESOME!)
But my FAVORITE part of Nick's story is he chose to come back to us full-time after graduating from the University of Chicago, which goes to show how great our team is at LCP Media. We are lucky to have him! 👏
Reflecting on Nick's journey made me think about my path to LCP Media as the Marketing Director -
As a young girl, I loved making things *look pretty* —if I colored outside the lines in a coloring book, I would literally throw it in the trash! Visually, I’m a bit of a perfectionist. My band-aids had to match my outfits (lol). I loved storytelling and decorating. In middle school, I would spend HOURS redesigning my MySpace profile. I still remember the exact day I got a Facebook account in 9th grade; I loved creating photo albums and sharing my life. I was the girl in my sorority with a GoPro documenting everything! Social media, photography, and videography have ALWAYS been my passions - It's no wonder I do what I do! 🤩
How lucky are we to have the opportunity to do what we love? I challenge you to think about your journey. What were your passions growing up—do they align with what you do now? Share in the comments! ⬇️
Welcome Back, Nick!

This Thursday, July 25th, is National Intern Appreciation Day!
Show your interns how much they're valued! Interns bring fresh ideas and skills to the table. Here's how to celebrate them:
1️⃣ Fun & Bonding: Organize a team-building activity like virtual trivia or a game day at the office.
2️⃣ Public Recognition: Shine a light on their achievements in meetings, newsletters, or social media posts.
3️⃣ Invest in their Future: Offer a free workshop related to their field or connect them with other industry professionals to help them advance their careers.
4️⃣ Say Thanks! A heartfelt note or personalized gift goes a long way.
5️⃣ Celebrate Together: Treat them to lunch or a casual get-together.

📢 At the 10,000 Interns Foundation, we're not just about hitting numerical milestones 📢
We're about empowering real people, each with unique stories, ambitions, and dreams. As Head of Comms and Marketing, my greatest privilege is connecting with these incredible individuals – our interns, our alumni, the driving force behind our mission.
This photoshoot, with its sharp suits and vibrant personalities, captures a glimpse of their journey. Beyond the polished exteriors, you'll find students finishing degrees, masters, even PhDs, armed with the experience to excel.
Others are already making waves in the corporate world, landing inspiring roles and shattering glass ceilings. Their paths are diverse – they're studying everything from engineering to the arts, working across industries, and bringing a unique blend of perspectives. Some are first-generation, navigating a new country with determination; others carry the legacy of their families, building upon the foundations laid before them.
And yes, amidst the ambition and drive, there's also the joy of shared culture – the battles over who makes the best jollof rice, the debates on whether oxtail should be served with white rice or rice and peas (the answer is always white rice). It's this rich tapestry of experiences, backgrounds, and personalities that makes the 10,000 Interns community so special. ✨
But what truly resonates is their gratitude – for the opportunities, the network, the platform that 10KIF provides.
It's a powerful reminder of the impact we're making, and it fuels my passion to tell their stories.
Because it's more than just sharing their successes; it's about amplifying their voices, inspiring the next generation, and demonstrating the immense potential that lies within our community.
It's about building a future where Black talent is recognised, celebrated, and empowered to thrive.
Meet Trey, our Strategy & Planning Intern. He jumped straight into work with us this summer and has been learning so much working with our incredible planning team. Today, we’re wishing him a happy #NationalInternDay! Get to know this VCU Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture senior below.
Q: What is your favorite part of your role?
A: I love the opportunity to learn new things. Being an intern is awesome because you’re able to get your hands dirty, observe the pros, and ask the stupid questions that are inevitable when entering the industry. Elevation is such a welcoming place and I couldn’t ask for a better crew to spend my summer with.
Q: What’s something interesting about you that’s not on your resume?
A: I am the proud winner of the 2011 Morrisville Elementary School Talent show, being one of only three second graders to ever win it at the time. I may have only been eight, but my dance moves were a solid 10.
Q: If you could use one word to describe your career journey, what would it be?
A: Dawning
This is the one area where the vast majority of people on LinkedIn (whether you ‘really’ use it or not) are missing out.
I sell this service for Miles Veth and I am not even capitalizing (those who can’t do, teach?).
People research people here. It is that simple. Prospective vendors, salespeople who have done outreach, founders, and more.
LinkedIn is less about followers for the average user and more about information. Direct information about specific people.
Is your profile telling your story on a consistent basis and making you stand out from likely 95% of other LinkedIn users?
Why not?
Only 4% of your market buying? We help you affordably find them.
Want someone else to be making tomorrow's LinkedIn post at 10pm?
I've got you.
We'll record you on video...
We'll turn your ideas into content...
And we'll post for you.
The best part?
We cost less than a good summer intern. No contract lock. Seriously.
Does Intern = Turn and burn?
In my career I have seen a wide range of styles when it comes to the use of interns.
Some organizations will simply turn and burn them with grunt work while others will welcome them to the inner circle and provide them life lessons regarding the industry.
How do you view interns? Are they just new kids on the block that must "pay their dues" or do you welcome them as a vital resource for your team?
Let's hear your stories of interns... Any cool stories of meeting a future rock star who didn't realize their potential prior to serving with your organization?
