Most Community Managers are expected to become ambassadors for the brand they work for when hired. I was a bit of an odd case though, because I was an ambassador for Growth years before we even had a community!
Being a Community Manager comes with a really wide variety of responsibilities, and it can really be a mix of small parts of many different roles, but also something completely different at the same time.
About 4 years ago, before I started my career in the world of #communitymanagement, and at Growth, I used to run a small start-up in the logistics tech space.
It was one of those situations where I had to wear many hats (great training for community management!). Eventually, we got to a point where I wasn't able to do everything that we needed myself when it came to keeping our operation organized, and effectively implementing our sales and marketing strategy...
... So, I decided to look for a top tier consulting firm in Orlando to help us out. That's when I reached out to this company called Growth, and was introduced to two gentleman, namely our CEO Christopher Nault and our Sales Director, Will Davidson!
A HubSpot implementation, some sales and marketing strategy, a new website, and many mentoring sessions with Chris later, we were set on a path for success and I was hooked on the level of communication and how effective their services were. I recommended them to everyone and stayed good friends with their whole team!
3 years later, I decided that I wanted something different for my career and decided to leave the business, and that's when I joined Growth! 💚
It's now been over a year and a half that I've been part of the team, in that time I've grown more than I can say, we've positively impacted dozens of clients, and we've build the Redwood Grove Community which is filled with amazing human beings who are also rockstars at what they do!
I might be relatively new to being a community manager still, but I've been a fan of our company for a long time now! Taking time to recognize that you enjoy where you work is, in my opinion, important and something I am grateful that I can do honestly.
How about you guys, did you know the company you work for today before you joined their team? How did that happen? Share yo story! 👇
