What have been your successful strategies to ensure employee engagement? ✏️ First and foremost is establishing a genuine connection with each and every employee. Insist your supervisors meet one-on-one with each employee and find out their career interests and what they enjoy most about their job. Have career discussions at least once a year. Match new employees with a mentor. Promote from within. Provide flexibility with hours and try to accommodate work/life balance as much as possible. Part-time professional opportunities and job sharing are great strategies to keep working parents engaged with your company. Personally, I worked part-time as a HR Director for 7 years when my children were young and a few others on my team were also part-time professionals. It can work if you are flexible. I was later promoted to a VP role. I stayed working at that particular company 16 years until the company was sold. Recognize employees whenever possible in as many ways as possible. Simple ideas such as “Employee of the Month” and celebrating birthdays and work anniversaries can go a long way but even more effective is genuinely thanking people on the team who are doing a great job. Pay fairly and as close to market as possible and provide a solid benefits package. And, one last piece of advice, don’t pay new people coming in to entry level jobs more than the existing people on the team. If hiring rates have gone up to keep up with market, adjust others already on the team.

The latest annual employee engagement survey results are in and the findings are troubling. The survey conducted across a range of industries found that the overall employee engagement rate has dropped to just 23% - the lowest level recorded since the survey began over a decade ago. The drop in engagement is concerning for a number of reasons. Engaged employees are more productive, more committed to the company’s success and less likely to leave for other opportunities. Low engagement on the other hand is linked to higher absenteeism, lower productivity and increased turnover of staff, all of which can have a significant financial impact on your business. 'Tis the season for planning your Q4 events including the highly anticipated end-of-year celebration! 🎊 It's the time when you do a call for volunteers for the internal planning committee as part of your employee engagement strategy (experience not required? 🙃) It's the time when management tells the wider company they need to push to meet revenue objectives so they can actually have an end-of-year event OR one with a decent budget. 🥲 💫Two pieces of advice: 1️⃣allow your internal event coordinator to lead the charge on this project. They will know how best to guide the process based on your goals. 2️⃣when budgeting, allow the team to include external support for them on the day so they can *actually* enjoy the event they're about to work so hard planning. Ok. A Bonus: 3️⃣Let your team focus on their already long list of responsibilities, and meeting and exceeding their objectives. Outsource the ‘heavy lifting’ planning. Your internal team/rep can serve as the guide and point of contact in that process. Happy Planning! 💜

Employee Engagement One of the top strategies organisations can employ to retain top talent is employee engagement. I think employers and HR should know that at this age of Gen Z, high salary might not retain your top talent if the organization lacks good strategic employee engagement and open culture. It is important for an organization to put in place some employee engagement strategies in place to retain their top talent and avoid talent flight or attrition. strategies like employee of the month, employee of the year, TGIF, Quarterly birthday celebration, employee anniversary, Karaoke night, village town hall etc, these strategies enables employer, HR and employees to bond, it reveals the bias and grievance among employees and employers, and also encourage team bonding... Some employees are facing depression and they can unwind if they have an engaging and exciting job whereby they feel like families at the workplace, as they spend much of their time at work than home.
